Adding a new board

I find that the Add New Board facility has been withdrawn since the last time I bothered my head about it. Evidently it was still in place less than a year ago but was defunct by October. On the latter thread Mr Noodles says the change has been mentioned elsewhere, but I?ve trawled through the thread titles on this board and the Moderator Discussion Forum and searched ILE without tracing the relevant announcement/debate.

That doesn?t matter, and this message is not intended as a complaint. It just seems to me that a question is being begged: has ilX0r (a) banned the creation of new boards, or (b) simply withdrawn the right to create one by clicking a few buttons and without consulting the moderators/Lizards?

(a) would be a sad loss and a sentence or two of explanation (or a link to the explanatory thread I can?t find) would be appreciated. I promise not to make a scene or ask any follow-up questions.

(b) would make a lot of sense, and it would be helpful if you could let us know whom to contact about starting a new board and what issues (e.g. cost of hosting?) are involved. Thanks.

Yep, you can no longer add a board. I was sick of the shit that was piling up. A veritable pale of festering turds, brimming at the edge just itching to flow over into the streets.

there was some good conversations on the self-emancipation of the working class board, and it generated a good conversation on ile too. it sucks that one was deleted.

the boards were deleted at a flash of rage and a lot of boards that were useful got deleted (including the ILDrawing board which was the only link on ilx to the ilx groupboard drawing site.. ended up taking me 3 weeks to get the site back :\)

There was no rage involved, and boards were deleted almost solely based on the activity they received.

Evaluating the ][worth [of boards only this way[[ by checking if they meet a certain _productivity quota_ ][seems a bad argument to me][ especially for _specialized_ boards][ made to keep ile light and pleasant][ that could have been revived periodically when needed by regulars or random googler][ ][ but hey ilx been throught this discussion before and I'm just a guest who don't want to fall off with the administrative class (de pun@board that was deleded:)][ ][
