can we get an instant ban on these new people who show up and start calling out other users on threads, claim they've been posting here for years as a way to make their beef a little more viable, and are likely just old familiar trolls back to stir the shitstorm?

i think both of those users have been here for quite a while. i don't agree w/their opinions of JW, but it isn't like he hasn't gotten under peoples skin in the past.

researching further, but not sure either of those are banworthy at first review.

having said that, i would direct both users to the part of the FAQ that says not to slag people using some mysterious username, so the next time you want to call someone out and reference your long time posting record, i suggest coughing up any "oh yeah i used to be username X" at your disposal.

ok but i didn't recognize either name and it seems a little "trollish" to me, and the "btw i've been here on and off for many years" thing isn't something a beloved reg would offer up imo, but i will defer to the moderators -_-

FWIW I have been posting on ILX since the VERY FIRST DAY. But I changed my username when we came to the new board and don't post frequently. Perhaps I was intemperate in my phrasing yesterday, but throwing temper tantrums and being indulged seems to be the way 'beloved regulars' get treated.

And actually - sorry JJ but what the f*ck? At no point did I refer to any posting credentials, and this is my regular user name. I have never used a humorous 'display name' because I think they're for twats.

I'm glad mods have been sensible in responding to Omar's request. Seriously, the major problem with ILX over the last couple of years has been tolerance of regular's dickish behaviour, not swearing by less frequent posters. This was acknowledged in principle by Pash, I think, on one of the clusterfuck threads. This seems worth speaking up on, since it's the climate of disdain for others from the little cliques who hang out on the sub boards that seems to me to fuel the problems here. And I hope I'd be entitled to that point of view if I was a newbie too.

IMO both the bullies & the bullied get way too worked up over this shit - if ppl would just shut up about it it wouldn't even be an issue

Likewise, Ioannis happens to be the name mom and dad saddled me with lo those many years ago, but i could always change it if only to reassure the 'sacred regulars' who are now apparently circling the wagons.

btw, i don't give a shit how long people have been here, but the only reason it got brought up is that the original poster didn't recognize yer usernames. until i did some SECRET MOD RESEARCH, neither did i, but when i realized you weren't new, i mentioned it to dissolve the issue. doesn't change the fact that saying that everyone who has posted here long enough thinks jon is a cunt is both obviously wrong, and implies some sort of imaginary entitlement, no matter what you might say about not pulling rank. neither of you pulled a ban, so drop it.
