I've noticed that ILX is having a lot more trouble showing up in google lately and I believe this is due to the two names. It is really annoying to click someone's link and realize you're not logged in on the other domain or to not get link color indication that you visited a thread.

Could we redirect one of the names to the other? Is there any reason why not?

is there anything we can do to ensure that ilx appears on google less?

t is really annoying to click someone's link and realize you're not logged in on the other domain

Is *that* why that happens! That makes sense. And is very odd.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 22 July 2005 03:11 (nineteen years ago)

please don't redirect, one of them is banned by my work but the other isn't!

which

OLD SPICE® CHEMTRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ex machina), Friday, 22 July 2005 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

I don't see what we'd gain from redirection. When you suddenly stop being logged in, it's obvious why; and you can always fix that by logging in to both domains.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 23 March 2006 12:19 (nineteen years ago)

Why do we have two names, anyway?

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Thursday, 23 March 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

did anyone else just have about 20 mins of "couldn't resolve" for either name

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Thursday, 23 March 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

(probably not if ally posted just now, fule)

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Thursday, 23 March 2006 15:20 (nineteen years ago)

I get that on and off though occasionally lately. I figured it was just my end though.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Thursday, 23 March 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

I am totes tempted to link the "I have a big ass." thread.

Dan (Totes) Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 March 2006 18:43 (nineteen years ago)

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Thursday, 23 March 2006 19:35 (nineteen years ago)

I like p3r

surely you like the two different ones really Jon, you can be logged out on one and logged in on the other, with switchproxy you can TIM@KFC.EDU to your hearts' content

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Thursday, 23 March 2006 20:15 (nineteen years ago)

I don't use firefox anymore, but I did have that installed!

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Thursday, 23 March 2006 20:24 (nineteen years ago)

i don't have any admin access to the server, hence can't control apache config etc

andrew plz take note

(i like having the two cos i can check what the logged out user sees on one domain)

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Thursday, 23 March 2006 20:38 (nineteen years ago)

wh3rd.net isn't resolving for me right now

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Friday, 24 March 2006 00:02 (nineteen years ago)

See THIS is why we have two domains.

Stop complaining you whinging fucks!

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 24 March 2006 01:54 (nineteen years ago)

Dude, upgrade the 486 in your mom's basement!

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Friday, 24 March 2006 02:06 (nineteen years ago)

jon some days yr a total codependent dick with ilx. you threaten to go postal if it changes coz "hey, its just a board, who cares" but then you freak out when it doesn't work according to your every whim and desire.

ilx actually runs on hardware purchased thru a friggin fund drive we had way back where lots of v. nice ilxers generously and generally anonymously donated enuf money to get our own server in good shape following the great greenspan migration and andrew and alan (among others) put in lots of friggin time getting it to the decent state its in now.

you tend to whine how much better you could do it, but given that you seem to have the stability of gr4ham at his worst and the attention span of a gnat, i doubt it. have some respect for the work ppl did so that you can idle away yr workday teasing others and seeing how long they can go before they blow up at you.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 24 March 2006 05:27 (nineteen years ago)

now now sterl, no need for testiness! let's just be cool ppl!

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 24 March 2006 07:57 (nineteen years ago)

I'm sorry I revived this thread. :-(

StanM (StanM), Friday, 24 March 2006 08:32 (nineteen years ago)

ilx is always broke :(

chaki (chaki), Friday, 24 March 2006 11:20 (nineteen years ago)

actually i int done that much but faff about trying to optimise here and there. it would still work much as it does now if i'd done NOTHING. maybe more poxy fules.

andrew is the one who's work without which we'd have nowt.

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 24 March 2006 12:07 (nineteen years ago)

I don't care if we have two names! It doesn't bother me and allows me to remain logged in on my computer on one domain while other ILXers can check on the other domain! I just wondered why it existed! Just a bit of fun!

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Friday, 24 March 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

Has p3r been done away with?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 24 March 2006 16:33 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, that was a total dick response.

Anyway, elmo.oxygen reports that neither p3r or wh3rd resolve for him.

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Friday, 24 March 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

ps - Sterling, I have coded massive shit in C that was portable to MPI and pthreads so I don't need some PHP weenie telling me that I can't code. EAT IT.

R.I.P. West Village Bird Shaman ]-`: (ex machina), Friday, 24 March 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

p3r for summer and wh3rd for winter, no?

terry lennox. (gareth), Friday, 24 March 2006 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

jon, i'm not gonna bother to tell you about what i know about coding since we've had nice friendly conversations face to face and why bother. but i wasn't saying you couldn't program -- just that you don't have it together enough to do what it takes to keep the board up and running and don't throw rocks at the folks that have worked really hard to make sure that it is up and running, k?

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 24 March 2006 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

(i should note that by "together" i again don't mean any level of programming skill or whatever, but rather basic levelheaded responsibility)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 24 March 2006 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

K BYE
