search function problem

maybe it's just me, but it seems that the "search threads/posts by display name" function isn't working -- i.e. if you try and search threads started by "j0rdan s." you just get a list of threads with an 's' in the title

try it not in quotes and it works

which is bizarre, but idk

working 100% for me, i can bring back your posts fine xpost

i should probably learn something about how ilx works under the hood one of these days

right. try it without quotes though, i did it on your name and it works that way

I wish the "search threads/posts by display name" function ignored changeable display names and only gave results for permanent usernames. the way it is now, if someone references Geir Hongro in their display name, a user search for Geir Hongro will include that person's posts along with Geir's posts. it may be a minor quibble, but all my quibbles are minor, so I may as well put them all out there.

right. try it without quotes though, i did it on your name and it works that way

if this helps you at all, you can limit your search to a specific user's threads/posts that contain a specific word or phrase. just enter something like this into the text search:

puppies AND displayName:"j0rdan s"

if you want to search for all j0rdan s threads/posts, then just search for

displayName:"j0rdan s"

and if you want to search for all threads/posts made by anyone ever, just select a board and do a text search for the word "no" (w/ or w/o quotes). you can do the same thing by searching for "NOT aetetaercbrefv" (make sure the NOT isn't in quotes) or more generally "NOT [a term so bizarre that it has never been uttered by any ilxors ever]".
