yo jjjusten, you're my main mod and I totally respect that you don't want to encourage people jumping on the self-banning trend. anyways, my reasons are three:

1.) dealing with a bunch of irl shit and I'm taking a break from a number of habitual behaviors until I get it straightened out.
2.) the one time that I purposefully walked away from ilx, I lasted a month, but in this case, I think I need like a season.
3.) this month is my 4-year anniversary of posting on this message board and hoooooly shit that's more than 1/10th of my time on this earth. Overall, hanging out with you guys has been joyful and the things I've learned from the ilx community have only left me a better person and I would hope to only have a positive impact on people, but I feel like my posting style has gone slightly downhill and could use a recharge. I have knowingly bit my own joke like twice in the last month and feel that may not be keeping with the "only quality posts in '11" mandate.

There is no official mod stance on all permabans expiring, of course there isn't. There might have been a decision to let a particular poster back in, depending on behaviour, or they might be flying under the mod radar. Difficult to know without more specificity.

The reason I kept saying it was satire was it really upset me how people talked about Marissa Marchant and other people like that around here. Completely hypocritical when you can find numerous threads with the same people gushing about Syd Barrett, Roky Erickson, Daniel Johnston, Wesley Willis, etc. THAT was the satire and the fact that no one seemed to get that after 6 fucking years is immensely satisfying.

This particular situation is under mod discussion at the moment and I'm not sure which way it's going to fall.

If possible, I'd like to keep this thread to discussion of this one situation and not a clusterfuck of "why can't you unban X as well?" because I don't think those situations have much parallel here, and the thread is being locked if it turns into one.

Actually, I'm just going to lock it now and unlock it when a decision's been made.
