Do we really have to go through this every time I post?

This is just classroom bullying and I'm sick of being at the bottom of 100+ threads of clusterfuck every time someone else decides to start meta about me.

If you're a moderator, you should really be doing something to prevent or cut off this kind of harassment, not standing back and fanning the flames.

I know from experience that even asking for moderator help will subject me to a whole new round of bullying and harassment and finger-pointing but you know, I am really really tired of this kind of treatment. Enough is enough.

I am going to be frank and say that IMO you started that meta clusterfuck about you yourself by aggressively lashing out at someone for using your first name. I am not trying to be mean here, but I am also not going to mince words or sugarcoat this.

I would also like to close this thread, because it also threatens to turn into an additional clusterfuck but I am not going to do that until you feel that you have had your fair say - that being said, if this turns into a snarkfest I will shut it down so if people could please not throw in one liners that woul d be much appreciated

I gotta agree with Jjjusten here. The "100+ clusterfuck" is in a thread where people ask whether some new poster is a old poster with a new display name. The same has been asked about countless other posters besides yourself. I know that you told people over at the Sandbox not to use your real first name, but you can't reasonably presume that every ILXor read those requests. Some people never even used Sandbox while the official site was down. Nor can you reasonably assume that people know there is a valid reason why you don't want your (relatively common, hence pretty much untraceable) first name to be used. I didn't know the reason until you mentioned it, after you'd gotten aggressive over people not getting why they couldn't use your name. I would assume the reason people use your real first name to identify as you poster because it was your own display name for the longest time, not because of any malice. It's the same reason people still refer to "Dan" or "J0hn", even though they haven't used their real first names for a long time.

So you lashing out against using you first name felt like a disproportionate reaction to what is basically a normal kind of human curiosity (as evidenved by the 1100+ posts in the "JAYMC UNDOES YOUR BRA(H)" thread). That is what caused the clusterfuck.

I basically think you're a decent person and a good poster if you want to, but at the moment I think you've entered a sort of a vicious circle when it comes to posting to this site. You feel you've been harassed by some people on this site (I'm not saying you haven't been harassed, I just don't know the full truth about what's happened), so you have a tendency to lash out against any personal comments about you, even if they were in an innocuous context. The kind of aggressive and angry comments you post make some people treat you with similar disdain, which then feeds your sense of being harassed. A circle is born.

I think it's possible to break out of the circle, but you need to change your posting style in order to do that. If you treat people with less aggression and more respect (not suspecting every personal comment about you is meant as an attack), I'm pretty sure they'll eventually do the same as well. Even if you feel the way you're acting is justified, you can't convince people to respect you with the tactics you're using now.

Hi JJJ, WCC blocked ilx from their computer but has expressed a preference for that thread to be locked down, if that's okay.

I know it's died down a bit but I've seen those things flare up again horribly when someone who likes to shit-stir sees it for the first time, so I think it would be a better idea to close it.
