made this thread because i'm interested in ilx history/mythology and want to read notable, long threads from before i started reading ilx. for some reason matt dc locked it

may i recommend the ilx search function, perhaps with the search term "shout for the moderator". in this way you can satisfy your curiosity without shit-stirring, which I am sure is all that you want to do.

seriously, MattDC, you are like the most paranoid of creepy intent mod. A couple years back, I remember you calling for me to banned because I posted about knowing another ILXor's street name, and that I was super-creepy for that, when, the ILXor in question is someone I'm IRL friends with who had invited me to his housewarming party.

And this kinda dovetails with that name etiquette thread ... some ilxors are personal friends with other ilxors, and they naturally assume a certain familiarity with those people.

anyway, flopson is a good poster ime - though that's mainly from the rolling punk/underground thread. i'm sure his intentions aren't shit-stirring, so why assume that they are? if someone starts stirring shit on his thread, then deal with it as it happens, instead of treating us like socially-deficient 12 year olds.

Yeah Flopson I have no personal issue with you at all, it's just that these sorts of meta threads where old fights are stirred up for no real reason have always led to trouble. Not gonna happen, sorry.

Flopsy, there are a bunch of old threads called variations of things like Shout for the Moderator. That is how I schooled myself on how old ilx was so meeeeeaaaan.

As unfortunately I do not have a handy and extensive database of ancient message board beefs I don't actually remember whether or not I called for you to be banned (and if I did it probably wasn't permanent) but I do remember you posted another poster's real-life street name on ILX, which is a stupid thing to do even if it isn't actively malicious or creepy, so a deletion and a "cut it out" seemed like the sensible thing to do under the circumstances.

Also I'm sure you know full well the difference between shit-stirring and being creepy. Sorry to Flopson for interpreting his thread as the latter if it wasn't, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. It's probably not a good idea to unlock it though, most of those old clusterfucks are just pure lols but some surround things that are still quite sensitive with some people who are still around, and it's generally better to just avoid raking those up again for no reason.

And while researching historical message board fites is probably not the most exciting or worthwhile use of anyone's time, searching 'Shout for the Moderator' will probably furnish you with enough of them without having to compile them into a thread. Or you could, I dunno, go out and do something interesting.
