sometimes i open a thread that has just enough new answers so that all of them won't load in one click. i sort of read from the bottom up to try to figure out what people are talking about, but then i get to the jump where it says "Click here to load all 10,000 posts in this thread" and i don't really want to do that. but i do want to know what the hell started the whole conversation i just read.
i think there should be a button inside each thread that will link you to the first new post. the code already seems to have a way of marking an answer as new, so this should just be a matter of returning the id of that post to a link at the bottom, right? help me ilx gods!!

A work around is to right click on the permalink before the hidden posts to open a new tab and then Click on "view previous page" in the new tab. Repeat as necessary.

I've made this post like 18 times, but I'll do it again:
Step 1: click the "Permalink" button on any post after the breakStep 2: in the new URL will be a part that says "bookmarkedmessageid=x" where x is a big number, on new threads over 4 million.Step 3: reduce that number by an appropriate amount and hit "Enter" - voila, it loads the thread starting at an earlier point.
(How much should you decrease the number? It depends how far you want to go back. I usually do about 10,000, but if it's an old thread and I want to just go to whatever revived it, I'll reduce it by a couple 100,000.)

Yeah, that sounds easier than a button that does that for you with great precision
