Wendy's Chili
This is a version of the famous Wendy's chili and it tastes just like it!

Ingredients:

Serves: 12
2 lbs ground beef
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (29 ounce) can kidney beans (with liquid)
1 (29 ounce) can pinto beans (with liquid)
1 cup diced onion (, 1 medium onion)
1/2 cup diced green chili pepper (, 2 chilies)
1/4 cup diced celery (, 1 stalk)
3 medium tomatoes, chopped
2 -3 teaspoons cumin powder
3 tablespoons chili powder

I think if the main populous of a subboard are okay with a particular style of modding it should be allowed - and it'd be better for the site mods to let there be a sub-board mod to take the workload. But eh, you're the boss.

I don't totally disagree w/that. There's a few related things in this.

One is that only site mods can edit the content of posts, so an ILP mod isn't going to be able to meet Dayo's demands, it has to be a site mod.

The second is that board-specific (and thread-specific) mod policies have had effects outside their boards in the past, so prefer to tread more warily there. Even innocuous stuff invariably sets precedents.

The third is harder to explain, and I was trying to allude to it (and my arguably over-serious take on it) with the "destroying history" quip. From the start there's been a rule here about not deleting things posters later regret. This is true even now when there's more than a decade's worth of stuff, and the requests for "omg I posted this thing which embarrasses me a bit you need to delete all my posts from ILX right now" get more and more frequent. If we gave in to even half of them we'd pretty quickly start destroying old threads, and I take preserving this place and all its posts pretty seriously (possibly too seriously? idk)

That makes me incredibly reluctant to fuck with posts once they're made unless they've got personal information in them, are attacks/spam/etc, have broken HTML/links or other obvious cases like that. We're like usenet or email: once you've said your thing it's said.

So, yeah, while I love the photowheel threads and the edit demands seem relatively innocuous (if a bit OCD), it touches on the edges of a lot of areas that I think are much more important and am v reluctant to toss aside.

we have been complaining about forks doing "comedy mod edits" for a while now though, its really irritating and as far as i know hes still doing and hasnt been reprimanded or asked to stop or anything:

iirc sub-board mods can "delete" posts (though they are not permanently deleted and can later be undeleted), having an ILP regular with this power would address dayo's concerns, correct?

ILP is a pretty active sub-board with a nice community and zero drama; asking for an ILP regular to be made a sub-board mod to tidy things up now and then seems like a pretty non-controversial request

I know what you're saying -- I just don't see it as "to tidy things up now and then" but much more like "to police one thread and delete posts that were made in good faith according to rules that are changing over time", which isn't the same thing at all to me.

Especially if it needs site modding, and then we're not far from a precedent of "this sub-board can decide it wants thread X policed according to these rules, site mods hop to it /drums fingers" xxp

imo the flow would have remained intact without the cobra and clinton photos

also, hypothetically, were dayo (or me, or someone else) a mod, we'd have been able to delete the cobra photo before anything else was posted after it.... because we are ILP regulars who are following a fun new thread pretty closely.

well i think everybody's vibed to the rules of the thread and so far the offenders have been 1.) broken html links, which can be fixed either by the original poster or by whoever wants to submit a new post using the oriignal poster's image and 2.) incongruous stuff like the link lee posted, which can also just be deleted

oh man i was wondering about this, too:

shortly after i posted on this thread last week my 'my recent posts' search function stopped working but then yesterday it was magically restored very soon after darragh posted his question. however now i can only see those 'my recent posts' made after the restoration, if i try to go back further i get an error message, so it was a bit of a fizzer as far as restorations go.

just fyi guys, sometimes the reason things don't get fixed the minute they show up on mod req is that mods are talking abt policy stuff behind the scenes (ie this thread) and it takes a while to come to a decision.
