ff7 was good, and then you reach high school and it's passe, and then you grow up and it's still good

Kind of a mess. I plan to replay it soon as I just bought it on steam.
I remember there's a bit where you meet an old guru who tells you that using materia is evil. But then you keep on using materia for the rest of the game because it's super powerful.

that's the standard anime/jrpg "War/giant robots are terrible! but also super cool" dichotomy

i remember the internet bitching about the steam version when it came out but it looks/plays fine to me. except that it froze when i alt-tabbed out so now i have to go escape from the stupid mako reactor again.

i haven't gotten the PC re-release, but I remember the original PC port was pretty specifically tuned to the video/sound cards of the time. (I waited for it for years as I never had a PS1). Not surprised there are still issues now, as I don't think they did a complete rewrite

i played through most of the PC version a few months ago, but I took a break once I got to the final dungeon because I got tired of the EXP/AP grinding required to fight Emerald & Ruby Weapon

I had 0 problems w the 2012 PC version, except at the very end in that last dungeon, there is an animated background as you get toward the bottom of the North Crater and it was stuttering. Same with the Chocobo main hub in the Gold Saucer. Everything else was pretty much flawless.

Only sleepover game I really remember was Secret of Mana. It was the kid's birthday and he'd just gotten it. We played the *shit* out of it until whatever counted for super late for me at that age. It was cool cause it was two player so you could get a turn, periodically, but it was also just fun to look at it, such great color and of course more of an 'action' game.

sleepover play for me was when folks got new systems and the most memorable one was when my pal got a turbographix with slaughterhouse and bonk. we played for an entire weekend.
