What music goes with what comics? Do you even mix the two? It's media convergence, people!

If you've made music or a mix inspired by a comic, post it here too!

Neil Hagerty mentions Martian Manhunter on his Howling Hex album.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

Yes, but do you listen to the one while reading the other? That's what I meant by this thread.

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

Oh.
Not especially.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

I don't listen to music while reading. Both activities are too distracting.

However, if I did, I would listen to this.

I really like the 70s Superfriends theme. I have the full version of it, and there's a wicked psych-out guitar solo about a minute in.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:23 (twenty years ago)

I used to make mix tapes. Nowadays I'm a bit emabarassed about that.

i0dine, Monday, 26 September 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

Mix tapes about comics?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

comixtapes?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

Did you cut out panels from different comics and tape them together to make a new supercomic?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

I should make a mix between crisis and secret wars. That'd be so awesome. I'd make Doom's hand be the one at the dawn of time.

i0dine, Monday, 26 September 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

And, I tend to be embarassed by every one of my mixtapes, but I'm especially embarassed by the ones I made to listen to while reading comics. That's because it's not only they don't work as mixtapes, but also they don't get along well with the reading.

I did that last winter! And I have a scanner now! Why haven't I posted them?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 26 September 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

Didn't "Nemesis" start as some kind of weird attempt by 2000AD to tie in with the world of music? I think the first couple of stories were meant in some notional sense to be based on the tunes 'Terror Tube', 'Going Underground', & 'Killer Watt', though not so you'd notice.

Comic Rock, I think they called it.

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 26 September 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

My pal Leonard invited a bunch of us musicomix geex to help him create a playlist of superhero theme music. The rules were that it should (preferably) be instrumental, and not refer to the hero or villain explicitly. I contributed three:

Mahavishnu Orchestra, "Birds of Fire" (Dr. Strange)

Thelonious Monk Quartet, "Mysterioso" (The Question)

Ornette Coleman and Prime Time "Space Church/Continuous Services" (John Constantine)

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Monday, 26 September 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)
