Where is the love for Guy Davis?

I really don't know much about this guy except that I adored his art in Golden Age Sandman more than life itself. What else has he done? What's he doing now?

Sandman Mystery Theatre, that is? He's drawing BPRD, the Hellboy spinoff.

Sorry, yeah, that's the right title.

He's probably an ideal artist for a Hellboy spinoff (he did a fantastic job on a couple of fill-in issues of Hellblazer as I recall.) Other than that, how is it?

His first major work was Baker Street, an alternate history thing about punks in Victorian London and a lesbian Sherlock Holmes. it was GRATE if you are not repelled by massive gothiness, and the first two series are in print in a $50 hardcover (the fuckers, I'd love to read it again but I'm not paying that).

The third series had about eight pages run in Negative Burn ten years ago, and has been on a cliffhanger since.

He has, more recently, done a series about a newspaper in the Marvel Universe, written by Marvel's PR flack, and was one of the artists on James Sturm's alternate-history Fantastic Four thingy (Michel Vrana (publisher of Black Eye Press) did the colouring, mimic supreme R. Sikoryak did the faux-comic sequences, I think it was Craig "Chunky Blankets de Voyage" Thompson who did the covers... and Davis either pencilled or inked but I can't remember who the other person that may or may not have drawn was. maybe Sturm did layuouts and Davis did finishes? anyway, it was tops, but the TPB is on hideous glossy paper, beware.)

I heart Guy Davis. I heart him so much, I hired him to do the first pinup page for Strangeways (more about cowboys and werewolves than about the Smiffs or prisoners behaving badly). He's done a series for Oni called The Marquis, which he both writes and draws, and it's faboo (gunslinging fallen churchman versus the hordes of Hell) and he's the regular artist on BPRD (the aforementioned Hellboy spinoff). It's pretty neat as well, particularly for the art and coloring by Dave Stewart. That's his regular gig right now, and it seems like it'll run as long as DH will publish it.

His site: Guy Davis Artworks.

Oh fuck that's loud.

Yeah, that's about the only thing I don't like about his site.

My speakers are off. I didn't even know there was sound.
