Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

That's maybe the textbook definition of "teaser"! FFS.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

WTF? That could be a teaser for Grey Goose vodka or whatever.

ng-unit, Monday, 17 October 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

The suspense, it is heightened!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

X-Men 3 will be an extended ad for the Wolverine SOLO movie.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

I've a really strong gut feeling that it will be shit.

chap who would dare to violate the least amount of laws of physics (chap), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Is uh Brett Ratner still directing it? Because then it will be shit. Fucking Ratner.

adam (adam), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:37 (twenty years ago)

fuck no he's going to save this franchise

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

When did "save [x]" become a synonym for "fuck [x] in the ear"?

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:43 (twenty years ago)

It's going to have mutant hookers! Maybe Chris Tucker will show up as some sort of mutant jackass?

O'so Krispie (Ex Leon), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

"maybe"

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

Or perhaps even a Michael Jackson cameo, since Ratner is one of his best friends.

O'so Krispie (Ex Leon), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

that's guilt by association!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)

dudes, watch the last half hour of x2 again. singer had great ideas & a great eye for casting and lots of respect for the franchise but dude could not follow through.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:50 (twenty years ago)

I'm convinced that Serena Williams is having the problems she is having now because Brett Ratner fucked her in the ear.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

Being infected with Ratner spooge anywhere would probably lead to serious health problems.

O'so Krispie (Ex Leon), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

s1ocki's got it, but I still think the third film will be even worse. Didn't they start filming without a script or something?

mike h. (mike h.), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

That poor movie's ears.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 October 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

i think a good ear-fucking is exactly what this franchise needs! painful but neccessary!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 19:55 (twenty years ago)

What the hey, s1ocki?! Why the X-loathing?

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 17 October 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

cuz the movies are such TEASES!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 20:05 (twenty years ago)

honestly i'd be easier on them if they didn't come so... close...

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

i think a good ear-fucking is exactly what this franchise needs! painful but neccessary!

That's what Serena said, and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO HER!

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 October 2005 20:12 (twenty years ago)

(I liked both of the "Rush Hour" movies but really, I don't need to see Jackie Chan as Sunfire and Chris Tucker as Bishop bumbling their way into the Phoenix Force.) (No matter how awesome that might read on paper.)

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Monday, 17 October 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

i just think that despite his... boorishness? ratner has this weird ability to make any movie he touches really watchable (check the family man for proof of that)

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 17 October 2005 20:22 (twenty years ago)

I'm not a huge fan of X2 either. WHERE ARE THE FUCKING SENTINALS?

chap who would dare to violate the least amount of laws of physics (chap), Monday, 17 October 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

The X-Men should go to the Savage Land. I'd watch that, Ratner or no.

adam (adam), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

WHERE ARE THE FUCKING SENTINALS? OTM.
Less crying, less brooding, more giant robot space opera.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 08:47 (twenty years ago)

Spider-man could use a bit less crying too. Even FF had too much crying in it. This 'emo demographic' must be crushed before their sucky influence spoils any more films.

Vic Fluro (Vic Fluro), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Maybe the Sentinals are busy hanging out with the Sentinels?

Also, regarding the emo whining: you guys HAVE read the comic books these movies are based on, haven't you?????

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but aren't those the comics we hate?

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 11:19 (twenty years ago)

You hate Claremont's ENTIRE RUN?????

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 18 October 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

I want PUNK STORM in this movie.

Also, that american indian character who lasted about 2 issues should be in it too.

Jacob (Jacob), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 02:43 (twenty years ago)

It's okay to cry if you are being magnetically exsanguinated. But that's about it.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 03:08 (twenty years ago)

Just after you've had to watch your girlfriend commit suicide is probably one of those de-rigeur crying moments too.

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

Although:
Time taken to angst by Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2, 'cause he can't get the gurl: one hour to 90 mins
Time taken to angst by Cyclops when wife is squished to death by water in X-Men 2: couple mins, then credits

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 14:42 (twenty years ago)

jean grey's death in x2 SUUUUUUUUUUCKED.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

She died? I don't remember.

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

She drowned ("drowned") trying to hold back a tidal wave! She even manifested the Phoenix Force right before getting overwhelmed by water.

The Ghost of Black Elegance (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

WHY DID SHE USE HER POWERS OF TELEKINESIS TO AVERT 1000 TONS OF WATER ISNTEAD OF JUST LIFTING UP THE PLANE

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

Hush now.

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Thursday, 20 October 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

SHE'S AN ELEMENTAL FORCE OF NATURE NOT AN ELEMENTAL FORCE OF AVIATION

mike h. (mike h.), Thursday, 20 October 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

The answer is that they put the clue right at the other end of the film: when we see her the first time, she's been having some sort of trouble with her powers, and then nothing is mentioned for 80 minutes until it's time to die.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 20 October 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

She even manifested the Phoenix Force right before getting overwhelmed by water.

"Phoenix Force" - this still makes me shoot blood out of my eyes. The retcon that took my innocence...

rogermexico (rogermexico), Thursday, 20 October 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

Isn't the last shot of X2 a big bird thing shadow under the water?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 20 October 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, my feelings toward X3 can be summed up with two words and comic book cover:
FAMKE JANSSEN +
ihttp://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/11680/400/11680_4_004.jpg

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 20 October 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

really more pertinent to the comics than the movie but i figured at least a couple of you guys would find these amusing. flash animation x-men parodies, hosted on newgrounds:
episode 1
episode 2
episode 3
episode 4

whatever, Friday, 21 October 2005 01:27 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
so there are photos of Kelsey GrammerBeast and somebody else out there.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 5 December 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

I'm so happy USA Today thought to interview a fan for this one-sheet.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 5 December 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

OMG Kelsey Grammar looks amazing

Dan ("I'll Take 'Sentences I Never Thought I'd Type' For $600, Alex") Perry (Dan, Monday, 5 December 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

When it comes to the ladies, what's good for Feral Lad is good for me.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:25 (twenty years ago)

Don't worry, Andrew - I'll call Zatanna & she'll fix you right up.

Fun Fact: the Rotten Tomatoes Ultraviolet rating = FIVE PERCENT.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:26 (twenty years ago)

Nothing (significant) was spoiled! It's a minor part of a movie that isn't plot-driven to begin with.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:27 (twenty years ago)

I have had a boner for FAMKE since 1995. LITERALLY. OW.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:33 (twenty years ago)

Zatanna can help w/ that, too.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:34 (twenty years ago)

RENOB ,TLIW

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:36 (twenty years ago)

Like Batman said, Zatanna's done enough, thanks.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:39 (twenty years ago)

Wolverine is teh hottest! even with his rub hair

Mark C (Markco), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:42 (twenty years ago)

its Famke for me, altho' i dig Anna muchly…

veronica moser (veronica moser), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:47 (twenty years ago)

I've seen sci-fi channel movies with better special effects. What an embarassment.

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 17:31 (twenty years ago)

Ever since TNG's "The Perfect Mate" (5x21) featured Kamala the empathic metamorph Kamala has my nerd hormones been stoked by the statuesque Nederlander.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:05 (twenty years ago)

That trailer got me fairly excited, which I wasn't expecting. I don't know how they're going to fit in Beast and Angel and Morlocks and Brotherhood of Evil Mutants army and DARK FUCKING PHOENIX and make it all coherant, though.

P.S. Famke, Halle, Anna... any would do me. Callisto looked quite hot in a dirty evil troglodyte way, as well.

ilc: a different kind of comic book message board

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:11 (twenty years ago)

NOW WITH MORE LUDATITS

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

It does look busy in a possibly good way -- a "holy shit, how are they fitting all this in and there's still forty minutes left" kind of thing would be fine with me, even if you decide afterwards it felt a bit forced. (That's the reaction I'm having to this season's 24 -- I haven't watched it regularly since first season -- but maybe Morrison is a better comparison, what with superheroes and all.)

I'm not gonna be able to see Angel as anything but Claire Fisher's boyfriend, though.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:16 (twenty years ago)

argh that's who it is. i hate that guy

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:35 (twenty years ago)

I didn't see Six Feet Under, but he was good in Freaks and Geeks. But I guess I refuse to hate on anyone from Freaks and Geeks except Ben Stiller.

My Psychic Friends Are Strangely Silent (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:46 (twenty years ago)

Who was he on Freaks and Geeks?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:57 (twenty years ago)

Batman.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:57 (twenty years ago)

Awesome.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

Linda Cardinelli was Power Girl.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 19:05 (twenty years ago)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 19:17 (twenty years ago)

And what would she wear?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 19:20 (twenty years ago)

(the only difference between me and Bill was that Bill had more friends!)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 19:21 (twenty years ago)

Josie & the Pussycats Pt. 2

P.S. Famke, Halle, Anna... any would do me. Callisto looked quite hot in a dirty evil troglodyte way, as well.

Have we forgotten the Romijn already? SHE'S JUST WEARING PAINT. (But my answer would be Anna, no wait Famke, no wait BOTH.)

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 16:57 (twenty years ago)

SHE'S JUST WEARING PAINT. AND GRANOLA.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 16:58 (twenty years ago)

Dude, it's shingles.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 8 March 2006 16:59 (twenty years ago)

Mrs. Uncle Jesse isn't all that hott in normal life, much less with scaly blue skin.

angel IS zach braff!

etc, Tuesday, 16 May 2006 07:58 (nineteen years ago)

not that i was expecting any different, but all three films seem to de-emphasize Cyclops more than they should…

but then, ever since the Rise of Wolverine in the early '80s, Cyke has been portrayed in the comics as an uptight drip, not a dutiful, conscientious guy who forges a bunch of loners into a team.

those qualities aren't sexy or kewl, I guess…

veronica moser (veronica moser), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 21:29 (nineteen years ago)

According to my sixties X-Men essentials, he was always an uptight drip.

Vic F (Vic Fluro), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:32 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Cyclops was one of the most irritating characters ever until Morrison got ahold of him, mister!!!

Deric W. Haircare (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

(It should be noted that, everytime I've ever seen Cyclops spout "Mister!", I hear Charles Nelson Reilly's voice. Maybe he could've done something more interesting with the character than James Marsden has.)

Deric W. Haircare (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 22:51 (nineteen years ago)

DID YOU GUYS SEE THE CLIP WITH THE SENTINAL!!?!??!?!

city of gyros (chaki), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

I've seen a clip which alledgedly contained a Sentinal, but it was all dark and smokey.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Tuesday, 16 May 2006 23:10 (nineteen years ago)

SPOILERS

at the start of the film they're fighting a sentinel, but it turns out to be a danger room simulation w/no other sentinel-related stuff in the film whatsoever! probably the best action sequence in the fim.
also, cyclops gets very little screen time due to being DISINTEGRATED IN THE FIRST TEN OR SO MINUTES HAHAHAHA. which reminds me - groanworthy dialogue: "not everyone heals as fast as YOU, logan!" "storm, you of all people should know how fast the weather can change!", &c&c&c.
& i'm pretty sure iceman wasn't so fugly in the previous film. brrr.

etc, Wednesday, 17 May 2006 00:19 (nineteen years ago)

this wasn't as bad as i thought. thought it was crap at first viewing a couple years ago, but i rented it yesterday and i was surprised. not as good as the other two, but a lot better than i remembered.

this was on TV the other night/week/month. Funny to see Juno and Anna Paquin as rivals, since Juno--who might have an actual name--kinda replaced Anna Paquin as "the new new Megan Follows".

Uh, dude, Juno's actual name is Kitty Pryde. Plz. :/
