So Godland then?

I think I like it! And not just for the Kirby schtick. There's something pleasantly frothy about combining snarky, grown-up content with retro storytelling techniques (thought balloons! portentous narration!). Makes me feel like a nine-year-old kid discovering his older, cooler, moved-on-to-girls-and-stuff big brother's comic stash.

I quite like it. Sometimes the postmodern-selfconscious dialogue borders close to being really bad, but it's generally above the rest. I always thought that Joe Casey was a man with cool ideas who needed to think them through a little better and he would be great. Hopefully this will prove it (sorry if the comment is shite, I'm really sleepy)

I think you really hit the nail on the head here. That high-wire act is definitely part of the appeal. Though I fear it could get old real fast, for the creative team as much as for the audience.

OTM, especially on the high-wire act - that scene where the disembodied-skull-in-fluid trips his balls off on the stuff from the Lockjaw-stand-in straddles that line perfectly. (And if that doesn't intrigue non-readers, I don't know what will!)

I've just read the first issue on Newsarama, and found myself pleasantly intrigued. The brash Silver Age atmosphere is nicely sustained, and it's obviously more than an outright parody. How many issues have been published?

They're up to #4.

Oh, I don't know, I think it's a bit naff. He hasn't learnt to draw outside of this reference of copying comics, specifically Kirby, and it shows quite badly at times. (This is a personal thang with me: I 'learned' to draw mostly off comics too, and struggling against that and trying to improve my stuff, today, is about a hundred times harder as a result... much to my ongoing annoyance... hell, I even bought one of Hogarth's books a while back, which IS actually helping a little bit...)

(PLUG: see Comics International #194 for my first badly-drawn NetworX strip!)

This looks right up my strausse, but whats with discontinuing the hardcover TPB with an intro by Morrison?

Even knowing it exists makes me less inclined to buy the normal TPBs,

I got it on ebay for cheap. Well worth it. Maybe they'll do a reprint if they actually do the second Celestial Edition as has been rumored.

I didn't know it was out! Nice. I'll have to add it to the next Amazon order.
