I had a Silver Sable 1st issue collectors item on the cover of which she had EMBOSSED TITS.

did you buy it like that, or did you emboss them yourself?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 20 October 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

"emboss"

Is that a Kelley Jones cover?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

Yep yep.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

I think he did all the "Knightfall" covers before hopping on board as the Bat artist.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 20 October 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

I had a glow-in-the-dark Ghost Rider cover.

David N (David N.), Thursday, 20 October 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Kelly Jones' disregard for anatomy is staggering. What are all those tumours in Batman's armpit supposed to be?

chap who would dare to violate the least amount of laws of physics (chap), Thursday, 20 October 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

Oh god, I think I bought all the colors of the Legends of the Dark Knight one. I didn't even particularly like Batman!

Occam, Friday, 21 October 2005 01:44 (twenty years ago)

Oh, plus my copy of X-Force #1 had this weird line going down the center of it, some sort of printing error I guess, I figured it was maybe gonna be worth a ton of money!

Occam, Friday, 21 October 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

THat was the great thing about the late 80s Batmania! Nobody asked you to like Batman. They just wanted you to buy stuff with his logo on it.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 21 October 2005 01:51 (twenty years ago)

Eclipso The Darkness Within #1 had a (fake plastic) gem inset into the cover. They must have loved that in comic book shops.

David Simpson (David Simpson), Friday, 21 October 2005 08:20 (twenty years ago)

Never mind a kid's longbox.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 21 October 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

But to be fair, it WAS a great comic.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Friday, 21 October 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

YES OK I BOUGHT TWO COPIES OF XFORCE 1

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:51 (twenty years ago)

Can anyone remember one thing that happens in it?

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:52 (twenty years ago)

Also relevant: MY SPECULATOR HELL

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:55 (twenty years ago)

I think Cable grits his teeth.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 21 October 2005 13:59 (twenty years ago)

but can you remember what trading cards you got? I think i had domino...

Mark C (Markco), Friday, 21 October 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

I probably got Boom-Boom.

When I went to the store around the time that came out, MY DAD noticed the cover & thought I shd get it. Thanks, Dad!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 21 October 2005 14:34 (twenty years ago)

I bought The Adventures of Ford Fairlane #1, even though I'd never heard of Andrew "Dice" Clay at the time. I must have been about 12, and the comic shop guy didn't want to to sell it to me because it was "Suggested for Mature Readers", though that had never interfered with my Green Arrow consumption. I eventually got my dad to buy it for me.
"Is this what you like?" he asked me. I wouldn't hear those words in that tone again for another 10 years, when my soon-to-be ex-girlfriend at the time found my porn stash.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 21 October 2005 14:48 (twenty years ago)

I have decided that it is time to DOWNLOAD and READ X-Force 1.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

I will pray for you, Tom.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 21 October 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

Dude, a double-bladed sword.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

How I pray:

There is a villain called Forearm who has four arms.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

Who the fuck was Gideon again? Anyone?

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

Cable was so camp when Rob drew him! The little ankles, the pointy chin, the disco tits!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 19:21 (twenty years ago)

What an awful comic. OK here's what I learned:

i. Rob Liefeld has improved as an artist over the last 15 years.
ii. Rob Liefeld's character designs were quite pastel-heavy.
iii. There are loads of lame 'this ain't your Daddy's X-Men' scenes with jaws breaking and hands severing. They reminded me, more than anything else, of the Authority.
iv. Cable and Cannonball = Wulf and Johnny
v. Fabian Nicieza's comics career has involved some pretty thankless tasks.
vi. The early 90s were MENTAL. How the fuck did that sell 3 million?

Tom (Groke), Friday, 21 October 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

hahahahaha
