You are not a pimply 14 year old boy entering into puberty -- how would you justify the existence of JSC? (His biggest fault, beyond the gross anatomical exaggerations, is that his women are indistinguishable apart from costumes and hair.)(There are probably other/worse offenders when it comes to cartoonish women, but he seems to me as the emblematic figure of the movement.)

Er, brief bio?

That's all you really need to know. More crimes against taste at his website.

But he's the creator(?)/illustrator of Gen13, among other titles, and IIRC Wizard once crowned him as "King of the Tan Line."

Danger Girl had potential to be good once, and not only did nothing ever come of that, but any randomly selected issue of Codename Knockout did everything DG did well, but better.

While you're emblemizing him, don't forget the whole "artists who draw an issue every year and a half, play video games, and live off the licensing royalties" thing, although I guess JSC wasn't as bad as Joe Mad when it came to that.

All of his faces tend to be very feline.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That's why it takes him so long, he actually draws furries and then slowly, sensually, one-handedly shaves them.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so mad at you for that. Ew.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Bwahaha.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:48 (twenty-one years ago)

With the risk of sounding dumb, and because I am very very afraid to Google it, will someone be so kind as to define "furries" for me? Or will I never be able to get Tep's words out of my head once I know?

Jocelyn (Jocelyn), Monday, 10 May 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Anthropomorphic animals, in this case (like Tigra, or the Thundercats, etc), and the word's also used to mean "fans of anthropomorphic animals" -- but don't google it or you'll quickly find out that "fan" often has a very sexual connotation there.

Aha, I thought so. Thanks! (Hmmm..these people often like to post photos of themselves in scary costumes, don't they?)

Jocelyn (Jocelyn), Monday, 10 May 2004 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Harmless cheesecake merchant.
