It's good, too! But Dave -- the thing that makes Rucka punchable, it's not such a big deal, I don't think, if I'm assuming correctly what the thing is, i.e. her post-Iraq relationship with Crocker et al.

I saw this in FP yesterday, and was surprised that I hadn't heard of it. It does seem to go to some lengths to avoid pointing out that there's a comic book with the same characters (IE the phrase "A Queen & Country novel" was nowhere to be seen).

But where does this take place in CONTINUITY??

Last time I checked, I read A Gent's Game and then Operation: Saddlebags, and that was like a year ago! Is it alternating between trades and novels now?

I've heard Rucka talk about where Private Wars fits into continuity, and I can't remember what he said. But assuming that there haven't been any comics in between the novels, then I think what he said is that PW is the fallout from AGG.

UK = GCPD
USA = Batman

Aaand now I've finished it!

Where AGG started off slowly and ramped up the intensity over the book, PW is the opposite -- it starts white-hot, but settles into more a deliberate(d) pace.

There's less spy-action, but that's more than compensated by the political/backdoor shenanigans, some of which are SEAT-POUNDING PULSE-WHITENING EDGE-OF-YOUR-KNUCKLES!!

Crocker is REALLY good in this.
