Has anyone got the new book? I have all the big, purple and brown hardcover books that someone put out a few years ago. Should I bother getting the new book? What's the difference?

it's a lot bigger (which DOES make a huge difference, i bet), and the color is cleaned up

Well, if you can remember what the old pages look like, then, you can get a good idea how much bigger the new version is:

there's an interview w/ the editor and spiegelman at bookworm, that's pretty interesting. He says that mckay's lettering is deliberately shoddy, but surprisingly readable at this scale

Shhhh! Don't tell, but I bought one for my husband. It's still in the cardboard shipping carton though, because he is ALWAYS there, so I haven't been able to check it out yet (and wrap it). It is huge! We have one of the smaller hardcover collections (1905-1907) and this one is 2 1/2 times the size. I can't wait to open it.

i really hope they do a few more printings of this!

I let him open this tonight - I thought he already knew what it was, and so did he, but really, he didn't and so was v. v. surprised. It is really a beautifully done book - full news-sheet sized, enormous, detailed, wonderful paper, wonderfully bound.

The Sunday Press site says there's a second printing coming in February.

That's kind of amazing.

Wow!

Mind, blown.

I really want more of it, but it's almost three years old, so I guess that's all this guy's going to do. (My girlfriend just showed it to me tonight. Haven't recovered yet.)

oh, I guess that's why comicbookchallenge.com is down. Darn!

four weeks pass...

should I buy
THE COMPLETE LITTLE NEMO IN SLUMBERLAND--VOLUME 1: 1905-1907 (and plan on getting volume 1-6)
or
Little Nemo in Slumberland: So Many Splendid Sundays!

but I want a bongo drum (CaptainLorax), Tuesday, 10 May 2011 22:19 (fourteen years ago)

I have two of those volumes but man you really can't go wrong with any of these. Saw the super-giganto edition last year at Powell's and was drooling.... hmm, I should show these to my daughter...

don't know how you could plan on getting 1-6 twenty years after they went OOP. either aim to get the nigh-complete Taschen, or lash out on the Sunday Press one. I have the former and would swap for the latter if I could get it in this country.

three months pass...

I am now a proud owner of both So Many Splendid Sundays! and Many More Splendid Sundays! (the super-giganto collections)
The new third edition printing for volume one has nine new Sundays

that's cute, but it's WRONG (CaptainLorax), Friday, 9 September 2011 05:02 (fourteen years ago)

I kinda want to read these with my daughter but am a little weirded out about how to handle the obviously racist Imp bits

you will always be wrong (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 9 September 2011 15:31 (fourteen years ago)

three years pass...

How did I totally fail to notice that Taschen put out the complete Little Nemo last year? Well, they did, in case you missed it, too. Not as big as the Sundays collections but still pretty sizable, from what I can tell online.
