MARTIN SKIDMORE GET OVER HERE NOW

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 18:45 (twenty years ago)

Um, Bobby, that's an Easter Story. I'm not even going to touch the rest of it.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 19:42 (twenty years ago)

Christmas is something of a downer in Bobby's house.

Vic Fluro (Vic Fluro), Tuesday, 20 December 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

"he truly was the greatest comic artist of all time"

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

Wow, that's pretty good, even to a heathen like me.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

It's a magnificent little story, which I have seen before. He did the best opening pages ever - there will be several examples in the upcoming Showcase Presents House Of Mystery, I believe - and the one here is a real beauty.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 13:56 (twenty years ago)

Today's Dial B for Blog Christmas story is even less Christmasish and Robby awkwardly but ostentatiously points out that Lee & Kirby are Jewish.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Stan Lee is Jewish? One of mine? My infalliable jewdar skills fail me yet again.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

And the story in question plays much more into Jewish lore than it does to any Christ story. Sheesh, GET ONE COMPARATIVE RELIGION 101, ROBBY!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:20 (twenty years ago)

Are you kidding, Chuck?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

It's the obvious ones you miss, I guess. Same with Shatner.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:46 (twenty years ago)

Shatner?!

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

Anglophone from Montreal, dude!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 16:51 (twenty years ago)

I've got a very special gift for ILChristmas, but it was taking forever to load before I left for work this morning. I will post it tonight, howev.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 22 December 2005 14:32 (twenty years ago)

Huk knows if we've been bad or good!

Mark C (Markco), Thursday, 22 December 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

Hannukah also starts on Christmas Day this year. which is a nice bit of synergy.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

I will try to find a suitable Hannukah comic to post along with the Christmas comic.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

"Oy."

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

I think I've figured why my ILC hristmas gift is taking so long to YSI. It's 56 Mb. Eff a dee.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 22 December 2005 22:15 (twenty years ago)

MERRY ILCXMAS (pretty big file of dubious worth):

It wouldn't open in my reader and it wouldn't unzip... I think the file may be corrupt? But I appreciate the effort anyway!

Argh.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 23 December 2005 17:34 (twenty years ago)

It took me two tries to get a complete DL from the site, but the file opened fine for me. Thanks, Huk! I especially enjoyed that surreal Sandman story, the Robin panel above (I liked the whole story it came from, but I think that miser kid caved a little bit too quickly), Red Tornado's excuse to get out of his date, Hal Jordan once again demonstrating his superheroic competence, and the sinister revelation that the Guardians of the Universe are a bunch of heartless capitalist thugs. Good times!

Chris F. (servoret), Friday, 23 December 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

Okay, I tried it a second time and it opened fine. Thanks, Huk, there were a lot of cool stories in there, esp. the Sandman one. Fleisher = bugfuck, no doubt.
