I got all wrapped up the dreaminess of four days off, that I forgot I had promised an editor I would give him a Top Ten Comics of 2005 list.
QUICK!
What did I like?

Laura H. (laurah), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

Legion of Super Heroes!

Darwyn Cooke's Solo!

Brian K. Vaughan, in general!

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

Vimanarama! Or did most of that come out in 2004?

SOLO! Darwyn Cooke! Jordi Bernet! Mike Allred! Paul Pope!

That re-presentation of BATMAN: YEAR ONE is awesome, though I'm not sure it counts.

Winter Men should be on everyone's Top Ten list, but I think it's only being read by five people right now.

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

Klarion the Witch Boy turned me goth.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

Is it fair to include the Stray Bullets reissues?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

Here's the Publisher's Weekly Best Comics 2005 list for reference.

ng-unit, Tuesday, 27 December 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I have not read/heard of most of those (Wolk strikes again!).

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 19:53 (twenty years ago)

Rabbi's Cat ruled 2005 for me. I can't imagine ANY list being complete w/o it.

ng-unit, Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:07 (twenty years ago)

That and the Fantagraphics books look pretty interesting to me. The manga stuff, not so much.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

I really feel like a douchebag trying to assemble a best of list merely from the crap I read. Maybe I should quit reading crap?
HEY, the Question came out (partly) this year!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

the boy blue in teh homelaands stuff in fables was particularly awesome

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:15 (twenty years ago)

I agree, but I don't think Huk reads that crap.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

I'm like 3 trades behind in Fables (I've read the first three).

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:31 (twenty years ago)

I was reading Fables avidly until my comic store burned.
Re the list; I read Gemma Bovary 3 years ago in England and thought it was a passing trifle, but not that great. The Rabbi's Cat, on the other hand, was amazing.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

I didn't think much of Gemma Bovery, either. I was pleased with the inclusion of "Street Angel" on the Publisher's Weekly list -- it's pretty fun.

F*CKERS

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 21:30 (twenty years ago)

I thought Street Angel was boring! Who wants my copy? (For REALS.)

There has been some Hellboy action this year: (EWAN MACGREGOR WANTS OFF) THE ISLAND.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 22:14 (twenty years ago)

I also suffered the curse of Street Angel, so I can't help you out, Leee.

I want to second Super F*ckers! Does Age of Bronze deserve a mention?

Chris F. (servoret), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)
