Randy Lander is a real name?

Hahahaha! Yes.

This news is probably only of interest to RACMU/RACMX refugees.

It's been a long time coming - I noticed recently he was eschewing the weekly New Release grind to just bloviate about TPBs and recentish non-Big Two stuff. His stuff was a little too reviewerish for my tastes, but whatever. Enjoy freedom, RL!

I recently talked to him after he reviewed Zatanna #1 because he didn't think that it took place before Seven Soldier #0 despite the rich girl with the toy box full of weapons and such being in Z's support group and talking about how she had a surprise gig coming up out west at the end of the issue. Now that Bulleteer #2 is out and confirms that SS#0 is after Z#1, I was going to write him a "nyah nyah" message but ten he ups and retires. Spoilsport.

What do you mean by this?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 18:16 (twenty years ago)

Randy's original Usenet reviews basically followed the "I will blurb what happened in this issue and then say whether I liked it or not" pattern somewhat slavishly and that feeling kind of translated over into his column; he didn't really go for much analysis or intertextual linking.

Ba-zingo!

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:08 (twenty years ago)

I like my straight-up "this is what happened, and here are my thumbs" reviews to be footloose & carefree w/ the florid verbiage, esp. in a "non-professional" setting (like a self-run website).

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:12 (twenty years ago)

That's what I thought.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:19 (twenty years ago)

does my rolling Batmannerisms whatchamacallit meet w/ yr approval?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:24 (twenty years ago)

I will let you know as soon as my manservant finishes peeling my grapes.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:25 (twenty years ago)

SO THAT'S where Tep's been.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:30 (twenty years ago)

BWAH HAH HAH
