chap who would dare to be hungover on the internet (chap), Saturday, 18 February 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

48. Frank Miller's Daredevil?

chap who would dare to be hungover on the internet (chap), Saturday, 18 February 2006 18:06 (nineteen years ago)

chap who would dare to be hungover on the internet (chap), Saturday, 18 February 2006 18:07 (nineteen years ago)

48. Keif Llama, Xenotech

tom west (thomp), Saturday, 18 February 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

tom west (thomp), Saturday, 18 February 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

45. Brubaker/Cooke/Stewart/Pulido's CATWOMAN, with a couple exceptions. Mostly Dick Tracyesque villans with no superpowers.

44. Morrison/Weston's THE FILTH. Sci-fi insanity like you like it. But *not* realistic, unless you think Burroughs is a documentarian.

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Saturday, 18 February 2006 19:16 (nineteen years ago)

why is sci-fi allowed? like is star trek allowed but not star wars because of the force?

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 19 February 2006 00:41 (nineteen years ago)

43. Tintin!

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Sunday, 19 February 2006 03:22 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know if I should wait until we get at least below 15 (or maybe not, since I'm not exactly an expert on non-spandex) but Stray Bullets!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Sunday, 19 February 2006 03:33 (nineteen years ago)

42. Enemy Ace!

Vic F (Vic Fluro), Sunday, 19 February 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

41. Roger Mellie

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Sunday, 19 February 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

40. Stuck Rubber Baby
39. Ghost World
38. Dirty Plotte (well, yeah, lot's of surrealism there, but it's her dreams)
37. Naughty Bits
36. Monsieur Jean
35. Barefoot Gen
34. Les Frustrés (Claire Bretécher)
33. Hate (not realistically drawn though)
32. Alec (Eddie Campbell)
31. Konrad & Paul (Ralf König)
30. The Hunting Party (Enki Bilal & Pierre Christin)
29. Life Force (and almost all other Will Eisner's post-Spirit works)
28. A Small Killing
27. Dykes to Watch Out For
26. Mafalda
25. American Splendor

Tintin has some supernatural stuff in it, in Seven Crystal Balls, for example.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 19 February 2006 16:51 (nineteen years ago)

24. Fell
23. Queen & Country
22. Gotham Central

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 19 February 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know if Mr. Freeze & Poison Ivy qualify as "realistic". Which gets back to the "how do I shot sci-fi" question?

Pedantic Pol (popshots75`), Sunday, 19 February 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

but but but gotham central is about cops!

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 19 February 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

So is Top Ten, but both are about cops with superpowerses.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Sunday, 19 February 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

no one in gotham central has super powers, unless i am missing something?

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 19 February 2006 18:52 (nineteen years ago)

Okay, just one - I forget her name, but she's psychic about where objects come from and belong. Also, there was a Dr. Alchemy storyline.

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Sunday, 19 February 2006 19:03 (nineteen years ago)

I was a little unclear on the sci-fi thing - as long as it's feasable and doesn't break any laws of physics it's allowed - V for Vendetta for example. Star Trek is disqualified because warp speed and time travel are obviously bollocks. My rules may seem arcane, but they make sense in my head.

So:

21. V For Vendetta.

chap who would dare to be hungover on the internet (chap), Sunday, 19 February 2006 19:11 (nineteen years ago)

"Evidence talks to me!"
-Josie Mac, Gotham Central

Is Fell a bit of a stretch?

20. Blankets
19. Maus

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 19 February 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

talking mice count as magic.

antexit (antexit), Sunday, 19 February 2006 19:58 (nineteen years ago)

But they wear masks!

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 19 February 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

18. Button Man.

17. Jimmy Corrigan.

chap who would dare to be hungover on the internet (chap), Sunday, 19 February 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

16. Volcanic Revolver

c(''c) (Leee), Sunday, 19 February 2006 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

15. Charley's War

chap who would dare to be hungover on the internet (chap), Sunday, 19 February 2006 20:23 (nineteen years ago)

"From Hell" would otherwise count, but there's the hallucination/time trip part in the end. Which is also the worst part of the series, thank god the other stuff is strong enough so it doesn't ruin the whole comic.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 19 February 2006 21:13 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks for the "sci-fi" clarification, as I was about to list many very unrealistic Warren Ellis comics, like Mek and Ocean and about half his catalogue. Instead I will just say

14. Optic Nerve
13. Palestine
12. Safe Area Gorazde
11. Red (the one Ellis title that's totally within bounds) (other than Fell)

Oblivious Lad. (Oblivious Lad), Sunday, 19 February 2006 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

10. I Never Liked You
9. Jar of Fools
8. It's a Good Life If You Don't Weaken
7. Rails (David Chauvel & Fred Simon)
6. L'Autoroute du soleil
5. Trazo de tiza
4. Alack Sinner

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 19 February 2006 21:23 (nineteen years ago)

are we including strips here?

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Sunday, 19 February 2006 21:52 (nineteen years ago)

4. Sergeant Rock
3. Sergeant Fury and his Howlin' Commandos
2. Look Out For Lefty

AND AT NUMBER ONE:

1. Dredger!

http://www.sevenpennynightmare.co.uk/stories/strips/dredger.htm

Vic F (Vic Fluro), Sunday, 19 February 2006 23:53 (nineteen years ago)

4. Sergeant Rock
3. Sergeant Fury and his Howlin' Commandos

For those jokers to have gone on all those missions in a little over 3 years, it would have taken a time machine, so I call bulldada on those.

pixel farmer (Rock Hardy), Monday, 20 February 2006 00:40 (nineteen years ago)

We3

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 20 February 2006 01:37 (nineteen years ago)

i think we3's portrayal of rabbits was unfair.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Monday, 20 February 2006 03:29 (nineteen years ago)

War can be busy, soldier.

Vic F (Vic Fluro), Monday, 20 February 2006 09:01 (nineteen years ago)

We3 made me cry.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Monday, 20 February 2006 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

I thought We3 was a bit overrated. I much prefered Seaguy.

chap who would dare to be completely sober on the internet (chap), Monday, 20 February 2006 20:49 (nineteen years ago)
