These are only about one million times better:

I still have my Joker Converse sneakers -- with purple soles! -- from when the first Tim Burton movie came out. Thank God I had an early growth spurt, so they still fit.

I have to say, I don't mind the Nike ads in recent Marvel/DC issues, the minimal ones with the comic book art. They're sooo much less obtrusive than the other video game/lame movie ads.

I hate them because in a couple books I actually paused to look at them instead of quickly flipping the page because it was an advertisement. X-Factor to thread, especially with pages that already had that color scheme.

I'm just grateful they remain behind non-academic magazines in advertising annoyance -- every week, my trashcan fills up with the wrappers, inserts, perfume samples, and redundantly redundant subscription cards everything else comes with. (Harper's isn't so bad, come to think of it, but cooking magazines are terrible.) That still leaves the fold-outs, the stiff-papered glued-in inserts that make it impossible to leave a magazine lying open while you go get a drink or have a life, the sixteen-page Special Information Section, etc.

Even a sample of Poison Ivy... Pour Homme in every issue of Bat Event 2006 wouldn't be enough to bring comics up to magazines' level.
