I personally was fascinated how their replication of manga style goes so deep as to include the spacing of words inside balloons and the pacing of the dialogue, it's almost exactly like you're reading an xlated manga with balloons too big/shaped wrong for english and details that don't translate well in between the line. Offputting at first, TBH, but after 20 panels or so I began to enjoy it.

Yes, I wondered about that, even the pacing of the language has that slightly badly translation vibe (up to and including the name of the lead: Charlatan - as if its a bad translation of a less loaded term).
