Will there be enough to collect a third trade? I don't have high hopes for getting single issues here. :(

Daniel_Rf, Friday, 2 March 2007 01:46 (nineteen years ago)

They're collecting 3 @ a time, aren't they? They're going until #9, so I imagine they're pop out a 3rd book, then release the AP OMNIBUS, and then PROFIT.

BTW, that John Stuart Mill strip (done in a Peanuts style) that's available @ their website looks fantastic!

I have not read any of this comic, but on that recommendation I went to look at this strip. It looks awful!

:p

The characters were sort of half-assedly drawn 'on-model" in the topper, then allowed to change shape willy-nilly through the rest of the strip. There was no sense of place or weight to the setting, the booth looks like some lines rather than something built (see the perspective on the level bit in particular). There's not nearly enough attention paid to Schulz' line, kind of a token effort at making it wobbly but not paying attention to the way way in which his line wobbled, and it looks generally clumsy and too heavy, like these were drawn for fun on beermats instead of on purpose as a professional pastiche. Probably with a fibre-tip brush pen rather than a nib. This is all memory of first impression, I just skimmed it yesterday and haven't gone back. But I didn't pay that much direct attention to the art, mainly because I couldn't bear to read from one panel to the next because the lettering was so bad: balloons too squared-off, hideous semi-Schulz-but-not-close-enough font, but mainly shithouse, shithouse kerning, letters and words both crammed together without spacing, and no room in the balloon to breathe - both in an objectively bad way, and very much not how Schulz laid out lettering.

Oh I just went back to check and there's actually a dozen of the things! Sorry duder, I'm not going to see whether I ought to back up my skimming :(

energy flash gordon, Monday, 5 March 2007 04:24 (nineteen years ago)

OK.

COMIC BOOK COMICS #1 IS OUT

David R., Tuesday, 11 March 2008 03:03 (eighteen years ago)

ha ha, I saw Comic Book Comics in the shop last week, thought "hey people liked that Action Philosophers thing," completely not remembering any of the above, so I picked it up and opened the cover: immediately had a MY EYES reaction and put it straight down going "my goodness how can people bear to read something so graphically clunky" etc etc. then forgot about it again until now!
