robin: c/d?

i'm kind of dreading the robin stuff in the next batman movie. is robin a big dud? or alternately does he only work in corny/campy settings like the batman tv show?

I'm not particularly a fan of Robin as I grew up in the grim n gritty loner "Lungs...filling with blood...right kneecap...shattered" era of Batman and like him that way. However, I don't think you can dismiss the possiblility of The Boy Wonder ever being a credible onscreen character on the evidence of two shit Joel Schumaker films.
