I've not read Patton Oswalt's Welcome to the Working Week, but this ludicrous thing cracked me up: http://www.pattonoswalt.com/ht/marvel_story.html

I hate to say it, but the Mark Millar two-pager that ran in the book was funnier, if only because the whole Hostess thing has been done to death. There was one particular line about people not being able to afford butter that made me laugh out loud.

Yeah, this was ok, but I'm gonna have to use the same argument that ppl apply to "1963" - what's the point of pastiche when it can never be as wonderfully deranged as the original?

Or as this previous effort.

like... "the hooker hacker?" come on. even if the point is to be as unlike a real ad as possible that shit still plays as straight misogyny.

I believe in the first draft he was the Girlfriend Hacker and he stored their remains in a giant freezer...

Patton Oswalt's Welcome to the Working Week is okay, great art by Patrick Gleason & Christian Alamy (what did the boffo GLC miniseries). Quite Slottian, except for the main narrative device/gimmick.
