SCIENCE

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Reed Richards - I'm tempted to say physics, since stretching...
Doc Magnus - Metallurgy? Robotics?
T'challa - Everything?
Ted Kord - I think he was an engineer, maybe? I'm sure it changed several times, but I think that engineering is truest to the guy who made up the cuncussion gun and the multi-purpose Bug.
Barry Allen - Forensic Chemist. Which is why I think there's a chance he'll be brought back (not really, but a really, really slim chance) to cash in (just as it's about to crest) on the CSI MANIA gripping the nation.
Steve Dayton - Mentalism
Peter Parker - Chemistry
Bruce Banner - Physics

Lex Luthor???

Charles Xavier = psychology, surely?

Tony Stark = he was an engineer too, right?

One thing I like about the Silver Age Flash's Rogues Gallery is that even though almost all of them used science-based gimmicks, most of them weren't scientists...they were just common criminals (with uncommon ambition) who stole their scientific whatzits. That was part of the DC Silver Age lionization of (bad) science.

Moira and Charles are both geneticists, aren't they?

scamperingalpaca (Chris Hill), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 14:43 (twenty years ago)

As is Hank McCoy, I believe.

Dr. Doom?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:00 (twenty years ago)

Robotics and, um, economics?

chap who would dare to be a stone cold thug (chap), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:06 (twenty years ago)

Robonomics?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:07 (twenty years ago)

DOOM

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:09 (twenty years ago)

"So, Victor, what was your phd in?"

"DOOM"

chap who would dare to be a stone cold thug (chap), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:22 (twenty years ago)

I thought Doom was his last name, though. Or VON Doom.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Why hasn't anyone made Von Doom shirts styled after the loathsome Von Dutch logos that you see everywhere? At least in Southern California...

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 15:51 (twenty years ago)

All superheroes seem to have very responsible jobs... are there none that work in Burger King?

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Company wide crossover events are good networking opportunities.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:22 (twenty years ago)

Xavier is a psychologist, I'm pretty sure.

Didn't Nova work at Burger King for a while?

Dan (Or Is That Wishful Thinking?) Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:29 (twenty years ago)

The Ray wore a chicken suit for a while (thanks to PRIEST).

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:29 (twenty years ago)

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold were briefly repo men. AND, hey yeah, they worked at a Burger King IN HELL!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 16:30 (twenty years ago)

That's me told, then.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:31 (twenty years ago)

well the entire BB/BG relationship has been based on mutual humiliation: they were the Kenny Vs. Spenny of comics.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 April 2006 18:49 (twenty years ago)

Charles Xavier, Henry McCoy, and Moira MacTaggert all specialize in genetics. Ditto Jean Grey in the movie version. Xavier is not a psychologist. Emma Frost oftens acts as a psychologist at the Xavier School, though I don't believe she has any official qualifications.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 09:05 (twenty years ago)

Oh wait, I'm wrong. Henry McCoy is primarily a biochemist, though he's also a geneticist, and has extensive scientific/medical knowledge across the board.
