Action Comics #838 - diminishing returns, but still real good and fun
Bizarro World SC - probably won't buy this for a while, but nice to know it's cheap(ish) now.
Detective Comics #819 - diminishing returns TO THE EXTREME!
Gotham Central Vol 3 Unresolved Targets - Why would they collect one story I don't have in floppies with another story I DO have in floppies?
Infinite Crisis #7 Perez Cvr - EVERYONE DIES
Rocketo Journey To The Hidden Sea #7 - A good excuse to reread the trade tonight!
Marvel Romance Redux I Should Have Been A Blonde - these are good, right?

Action Comics #838 - diminishing returns, but still real good and fun

Diminishing MY ASS! (Actually, I wish - I could stand to lose some hump.)

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 1 May 2006 16:07 (nineteen years ago)

"Diminishing" maybe cuz I know that sooner or later Superman is gonna show up in the Superman comics, and I kinda like it with him gone.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 1 May 2006 16:36 (nineteen years ago)

also, pls notice that Teen Titans is no longer on my list!!!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 1 May 2006 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

Yay!

I actually just dropped 2 titles from my ginormous pull list (FF & The Exterminators) - only 194 to go! (Please note that they'll probably be replaced by the nu-Bat titles.) (& various Civil War cloudpoos.)

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:00 (nineteen years ago)

nu-Bat titles?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:08 (nineteen years ago)

Well, G-Mor and P-Din's arrival on Ye Olde Batte Titlesse.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

Action Comics #838
Infinite Crisis #7
JSA #85
Neverwhere #7
Supergirl #6
Y The Last Man #45

Civil War #1

As one companywide crossover ends, so begins another. I've got drop fever too, with plans to axe JSA and anything with "Supergirl" in the title, among others.

Oblivious Lad. (Oblivious Lad), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

JUST ANNOUNCED: Granite Morristone and Dave Gibbons to launch Supergirl's JSA!!!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:22 (nineteen years ago)

I'll probably get Infinite Crisis and Civil War another week, I'm broke this week and cannot possibly rationalize going for that stuff right now.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:42 (nineteen years ago)

given the Wizard preview, Morrison's Batman looks great. Busiek & Pacheco's Superman don't look half bad, either. I love lois lane is sexy underwear.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

HUBBA(2x)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

Is that Wizard preview online anywhere?

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Monday, 1 May 2006 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

Behold: http://www.606studios.com/bendisboard/showthread.php?t=66990

The real list is up!

For me:
ACTION COMICS #838 (just wanna see where this is going)
GOTHAM CENTRAL VOL 3 UNRESOLVED TARGETS TP (is it too much to ask that Montoya becomes a favorite character on the strength of 52 and the rest of this series gets reprinted too?)
INFINITE CRISIS #7 (oh, FINE, I'm caught up in it, I admit)
SAM & TWITCH BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS COLLECTION VOL 1 TP (a.k.a. "I Am Curious (Bendis)")
CIVIL WAR #1 (impress me, damn you)
LOVE & ROCKETS VOL 2 #16 (yay!)

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 1 May 2006 21:05 (nineteen years ago)

Nothing at all!

Is that Yeast Hoist actually fresh this week? I saw *something* new by Rege a week or two ago...

kit brash (kit brash), Monday, 1 May 2006 23:42 (nineteen years ago)

The new Yeast Hoist and The Awake Field are both new from Rege. Also a reprint of Skibber-Bee-Bye.

Douglas (Douglas), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 00:55 (nineteen years ago)

Ah, it may be The Awake Field that I saw.

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

INFINITE CRISIS #7
SWAMP THING #27
Y THE LAST MAN #45
FURY PEACEMAKER #4
MARVEL ROMANCE REDUX I SHOULD HAVE BEEN A BLONDE
PUNISHER #33
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #94

Wow, a light week. I might well pick up Civil War in that case.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 07:29 (nineteen years ago)

There is nothing wrong with reading Infinite Crisis #7.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 08:32 (nineteen years ago)

Buying it is pretty indefensible, though.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 08:32 (nineteen years ago)

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 14:44 (nineteen years ago)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

rocketo (based solely on the ILC hivemind)
gotham central trade (laura is picking this up for me so i gets it cheaper)
MAYBE civil war
MAYBE action comics

maybe some stuff from past weeks, like iron man. slow/weak week.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

Ian: did you read the end of Ellis' Iron Man run? &, if so, were you disappointed? The nu-IM team (writers from HBO's Carnivale & Patrick Zircher) is kicking it old schoolish, which might or might not work for you; read before purchase (or just read).

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 16:33 (nineteen years ago)

PS to Andrew: I'm Batman.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

I was kind of disappointed with Ellis's iron man run as a whole, mostly because it just TOOK FUCKING FOREVER. normally i'm a big WE booster.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 16:49 (nineteen years ago)

st. mark's comics was out of rocketo.
i think the new iron man arc is off to a promising start.
haven't read parts 3&4 of up up & away yet, or CIVIL WAR, which i anticipate i will drop after this issue.. just giving millar a chance, here.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

did you ask for Rocketo or just look for it? it's printed sideways, so, um, it's kinda easy to miss (which makes no sense, since you'd think that it would be the opposite, but I found that my eyes glossed over it, since I was looking for a standard looking comic)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

i did ask for it :( comic girls said it was SOLD OUT.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

i sent laura a text message asking her to pick it up, though, so maybe she will and i can borrow it.

electro-acoustic lycanthrope (orion), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 20:19 (nineteen years ago)

SANDMAN MYSTERY THEATRE VOL 4 THE SCORPION TP (MR) $12.99

???? I mean, I can understand that you don't want to flood the market with this exclusive item for the connoisseur who knows what he wants (and he wants to be bored), but surely SMT isn't one of those comics where fan clamour grows as time goes on?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 4 May 2006 11:27 (nineteen years ago)

Infinite Crisis #7 - Big bag of balls. I kinda liked the idea of all the superfolk flying through Krypton's sun, but other than that, I don't think I liked anything about this issue. F
Detective Comics #819 - God I hope Jason Bard is dead. This issue has the best art of the OYL Batman issues. D

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

further to Detective: "Caesar Holdings...Caesar was an emperor...Emperor Penguins...COBBLEBOT! TO THE BATMOBILE, CHUM!"
If you're going to be camp, BE FUN ABOUT IT.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 4 May 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

I also picked up (today, because my bank account GOT PUNCHED BY SUPERBOY YESTERDAY--oh, how that killed 'em down at the comic shop) Bizarro World and the new Gotham Central trade, even though I already have the entire "Unresolved" arc. So if anyone wants those issues...

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 5 May 2006 01:00 (nineteen years ago)

reprinting Sandman Mystery Theatre four issues at a time at twice the price of what they originally cost is incredibly dumb, and seemingly designed as a test case for the "DC Must Never Get All The Way Through A TPB Run" semi-rule. If they banged them out twice a year in twelve-issue (because they actually had year-long plot arcs, REMEMBER) digest or paperback-sized black & white books at the same price they'd shift a load more than they ever will of these piss-weak half-arsed jobs.

Comics on my doorstep this morning! True Porn volume 2 from Teh Amazon and the Fate Of The Artist hardcover from Teh Brisbane.

kit brash (kit brash), Friday, 5 May 2006 01:52 (nineteen years ago)

nb I found my SMT backissues the other week and am planning to read the whole run soonish, I may well agree with Andrew about the pointlessness of reprinting at all in a month or so! but considering it was published in the first place to cream in credulous Gaimandollars, not reprinting it in a way that's going to do the same in the bookstore marketplace in which Sandman now exists is WELL SILLY

kit brash (kit brash), Friday, 5 May 2006 04:06 (nineteen years ago)

Sandman Mystery Theatre >>> Sandman. I am sure this is as true now as it was in 1994 though I have no plans to read either and check. Dian Belmont shd have been a best character nominee though!

Tom (Groke), Friday, 5 May 2006 08:29 (nineteen years ago)

Isn't DB just Lois Lane in flapper gear?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 5 May 2006 09:28 (nineteen years ago)

I agree that SMT totally beats the pants off of Sandman. Sandman is just ridiculously overrated in general, though.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 5 May 2006 12:08 (nineteen years ago)

Civil War #1: For the most part, I like the art, and generally like this issue. It seems like Marvel's figured out that it's probably more interesting to have the heroes actually be confronted with the scary situations they've created for them rather than follow DC's Infinite Countdown formula of introducing a big concept like OMG BATMAN'S SPYING ON US AND NOW THE SATELLITE'S FALLEN INTO THE WRONG HANDS and just turning it into another episode of Batman Kisses Robots. I will get #2. B+
Bizarro World TPB: Shrug. A lot of good stuff, and also a lot of easy and obvious stuff. Tony Millionaire's kinda brilliant, huh? Is Sock Monkey any good? B
Gotham Central: Unresolved Targets TPB: HOT DAMN. "Soft Targets" is so fucking good. Homina, homina whoop whoop whoop. When Brubaker and Rucka were both giving this book its druthers, it really seemed like every single character had something going on and weren't just there to advance the story. It would have been nice to have seen Rucka & Brubaker get around to some of the other folks. I find myself kinda pissed that OYL seems to have just steamrolled over Commissioner Akins like he was Jason Todd or something.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 5 May 2006 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

I wd be (professionally and fannishly) intrigued to know how much market research DiDio is doing on the DCU, a lot of the creative decisions in the last two years have the smack of the consumer group about them - what the 'fan in the street' thinks the DCU is i.e. supergirl=Kara, Commissioner=Gordon etc.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

The Flash = geriatric guy with a bad hat?

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

I suspect the real actual nu flash will not be Jay Garrick.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:22 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, well, right.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

Will they start calling Bart by the name Barry?

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:24 (nineteen years ago)

Barty Allen?

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:25 (nineteen years ago)

I hope they get a Crunk Flash called Dirty Allen.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 5 May 2006 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

Is Sock Monkey any good?

I've never read Sock Monkey, but Makkies is fantasticly good.

The Yellow Kid, Friday, 5 May 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

new gotham central = SMILEY.

i've only read the joker part (saving the 2nd story for tonight), but MAN I LOVE THIS COMIC IT IS THE BEST COMIC.

i wonder if we'll have to wait 8 months for another trade!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 5 May 2006 19:32 (nineteen years ago)

Sock Monkey is indeed any good, and Maakies is a zillion times better.

kit brash (kit brash), Friday, 5 May 2006 21:30 (nineteen years ago)

it was truly the saddest day on earth when gotham central was cancelled :( still bitter about that...
