Normally, I enjoy Comics Should Be Good, but this is, at best, boring.

Wouldn't it be Magnum Opi?

Opera is FOR REAL the plural of Opus.

"Shade is Milligan's masterpiece because he is able to take the ideas he explored in those other books (and in other things he's written) and distill a brilliant narrative from them and sublimate them to that narrative. "

yeah, this isn't exactly A1 brilliant level of critical discussion here

Just imagine a Magnum O' Pus. Num Num. Careful when you uncork it.

Magnum Optimus Prime.

Okay, I don't think the analysis was good, but I posted it b/c I thought it was interesting how he talks about people who aren't cross-over stars the way that Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman are. (And, to be honest, I didn't read the whole thing.) I feel like there are a whole list of people that are sort of famous but that even avid "cool" "Hey I've read Watchmen" comic readers would'nt know about--like Anne Nocenti, John Ostrander, etc.

Those Jim Starlin warlock issues were great--far weirder than his INFINITY marvel stuff. And I really liked the John Ostrander spectre run: the art (mandrake?) was great--grainy. Dr. Fate? WTF?

Yeah! That surprised me too.

Messner-Loebs' Dr Fate was better than DeMatteis' IIRC.

This is basically just a pompous way of talking about GREBT RUNS innit. Where's Simonson's Thor eh?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 11:26 (nineteen years ago)

Where's you FT piece about Simonson's Thor you mean!

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 12:20 (nineteen years ago)

I thought I'd better finish the poll first, ahem.
