It's up! http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/shipping_080906.txt

For me:
52 WEEK #14 it's the Steel issue!
CIVIL WAR FRONT LINE #5 (OF 10) because I must atone
ESCAPISTS #2 (OF 6) really enjoyed the first one
WILL EISNER'S SPIRIT ARCHIVES VOL 19 HC I think the great sequence with the Octopus might be in this one

Plus it looks like last week the FINDER: FIVE CRAZY WOMEN TPB arrived in comics stores, and I heartily encourage people to check it out--I got mine in San Diego, and even though I'd been dubious about this storyline when it started, I think the final product is pretty terrific. I especially love that little five-page "Brief Wake" story where we get to see Jaeger doing his job as a sin-eater.

52
secret 6
martian manhunter (i love that character :( )

any of those ultimate marvel books good?

chaki (chaki), Monday, 7 August 2006 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

haha my love of martian manhunter is why i'm not reading that

ultimate spiderman is good, esp if you're familiar w/ spidey uh mythos but never actually read proper spidey comics. the ultimates is incredibly awesome, esp the current run (next issue should be out about nine months after seven soldiers #1).

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 7 August 2006 22:40 (nineteen years ago)

whats wrong with martian manhunter? real world judd isnt writing it is he? i hate his stuff. i love the ultimates.

chaki (chaki), Monday, 7 August 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

Blount is OTM about Ultimate Spidey. I just started Ultimate Fantastic Four because someone made me but fuck it there are zombies HOW IS THAT NOT GOOD.

AP HOW TO DRAW HENTAI DOUBLE TEAM TWO PACK

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Monday, 7 August 2006 23:00 (nineteen years ago)

i love martian manhunter but the preview i saw for the new comic looked really bad! plus his new costume = ugh. i was actually shocked/devestated when they killed gwen stacy!

j blount (papa la bas), Monday, 7 August 2006 23:14 (nineteen years ago)

LOL I was so upset. I called my friend to check and make sure she was really dead. ;_; The Venom arc made me really sad too.

When I worked at Target the only JLA toys we always had were Martian Manhunter dolls. I always stroked them and whispered, "I'm sorry, J'onn...I'll take you home someday."

52, She-Hulk, Superman, Annihilation, Civil War Frontline.

I like slow weeks. Means I can pick up a trade as well. Might get Sleeper Vol. 2 or the second Gotham Central.

ESCAPISTS #2 (OF 6) - Here's hoping somebody actually performs an ESCAPE.
52 WEEK #14 - Here's hoping somebody actually performs a 52.
BATMAN LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT #209 - This is kind of stupid, but the art is kind mindbogglingly grotesque and wonderful. Goya-ish?
GREEN ARROW #65 - I HATE YOU GREEN ARROW.
SUPERMAN #655 - Why can't Busiek just write both Superman titles forever. I'm really not looking forward to Johnnervision.
SHE-HULK 2 #10 - Didn't Shulk #10 already come out? Like a month ago? Or was that #9?
LOUIS RIEL A COMIC STRIP BIOGRAPHY TP - B'leeve it or don't, this is the book that got me back into comix after not reading comix for 13 yrs.
DC COMICS COVERGIRLS 2007 WALL CALENDAR - Since I'm about to become unemployed, I'm stocking up on useless shit.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 8 August 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

No way is DC COMICS COVERGIRLS 2007 WALL CALENDAR useless.

Huk-L: is the LOTDK in question part of the Jones / Olivetti arc, or something else?

Also - the Clone Saga USM arc is NICE so far! Especially w/ the twist-not-twist that happened in the latest issue!

Also - SHOULD I BUY TED KOPPEL'S CIVIL LINE OF FRONTING, or should I just buy a Hostess Fruit Pie?

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 8 August 2006 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Jones/Olivetti LOTDK. I'm not actually buying it, and I'm not even really READING it after the first issue. But the SimonBisley-meets-Craig Thompson (Chunky Rice, right?) FATHEAD art is pretty wicked. Especially when Batman had to fight that REALLY FAT GUY.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 8 August 2006 17:35 (nineteen years ago)

guys i said im buying it too!

chaki (chaki), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

Okay, now I'm just convinced that Renee Montoya is one of the most boring characters in all of comics. I can barely make it through her pages in 52 without zoning out.

I'm really hoping that they aren't effing around with something big going down next week, cos 52 has felt like it's been in a holding pattern for weeks now. At least the Will Magnus pages in this issue were fun and interesting, cos otherwise I'd be really irritated.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 19:05 (nineteen years ago)

I might buy it too. BUT I WON'T ADMIT IT!

Also, next week: SUPERMAN IN THE 70s

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

Just ESCAPISTS 2.

I fully expect this to be a retread of last week's experience w/ DINI-DETECTIVE, wherein the absence of the first issue's brilliant artist was be sorely felt.

ALSO: HOLA, SOME COMPETENT GUY WYO'LL PALE IN COMPARISON TO BOND!

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 21:33 (nineteen years ago)

the eunuchs, Cassim and Mustafa, who guarded Abdur Ali's harem (orion), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 22:00 (nineteen years ago)

Fables was good as always (and doing their own backup story is kind of a cool idea). Shulkington was fun, although I fell asleep right after reading it and then rolled over on it in the middle of the night.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 10 August 2006 12:44 (nineteen years ago)

52 WEEK #14 - Kinda the best issue in a while. The art was a bit better than usual (though DC seems to think they're locked in to some BLANDO CALRISSIAN stylesheet, which they REALLY don't have to be), there are moments where you can really see where Eaglesham just did exactly what Giffen told him to. Really, really good inking. B
GREEN ARROW #65 - WHY DO I ALWAYS DO COME HERE? I GUESS I'LL NEVER KNOW. D
MARTIAN MANHUNTER #1 - Gonna have to go back and read the BNW thang, but THIS IS ALMOST KINDA GOOD AND NOWHERE NEAR AS HORRIBLE AS DC HAS MADE IT OUT TO BE. C+
SUPERMAN #655 - CARLOS PACHECO, WILL YOU MARRY ME? Way better than his work on Sup/Bat and GL (which were both v. pretty books) Is it the inker what makes the diff? WHO CARES! LANA LANG! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! After 20 years of being TOTALLY PATHETIC (see Superman, Vol. 2, #3), the BABE IS BACK. OH YEAH, AND A REALLY UGLY MONSTER AND ARION! A+
SHE-HULK 2 #10 - Rick Burchett! Man-Wolf! Irreverent self-indulgence! A

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 10 August 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

Really enjoyed this week's 52. Also bought SPIDER-MAN FAMILY FEATURING AMAZING FRIENDS on a whim because I needed something to read on the plane; cute but slightly dopey story about Spidey trying to fix up Iceman and Firestar with each other. And CIVIL WAR FRONTLINES, on which I think I am now officially giving up.

Douglas (Douglas), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, 52 was much better than it has been for a few weeks. And also the first issue for a while featuring a recognisably Morrisonian few pages. (The "Aaauuu" noise was the giveaway.)

I like Vic. So I'm not sure about the iffy foreshadowing: "I swear before this is over I'm gonna hold his dead body in my hands... probably in issue 27."

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

OK, so I've heard from Douglas re: this question - SHOULD I BUY TED KOPPEL'S CIVIL LINE OF FRONTING, or should I just buy a Hostess Fruit Pie? Which side is your grass greener on?

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

ive bought all civil wars and frontlines and im done now. so boring. :/

chaki (chaki), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

I don't understand how anything could ever be worse than that Billy Joel song, but I trust Jenkins has found the one true way in this latest Front Line.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Thursday, 10 August 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

martian manhunter was pretty good!

chaki (chaki), Thursday, 10 August 2006 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

What's the deal with the creases on the She-Hulk cover?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 10 August 2006 17:58 (nineteen years ago)

I told you, I accidentally slept on it.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 10 August 2006 18:00 (nineteen years ago)

NO MORE SLEEPOVERS!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 10 August 2006 18:01 (nineteen years ago)

They are totally setting Montoya up to be the new Question. Isn't someone supposed to die next week? I really just want to follow the Magnus storyline after this week, I like the Metal Men.
