Can we have a thread devoted to me expressing my all-consuming hatred of GREG LAND?

Can we please?

WHY IS SUE STORM'S HAIR DIFFERENT IN EVERY PANEL.

I really don't want to make this a discussion about whether or not he traces/takes photoreferencing to the extreme because what is more important is that it IS STILL NOT GOOD. Facial expressions that aren't appropriate to dialogue! Dialogue attributed TO THE WRONG FUCKING CHARACTER! ALL WOMEN LOOK LIKE PORN STARS!

THIS IS NOT OKAY.

I don't think I've seen his work before, but that panel doesn't strike me as particularly heinous. The stuff you describe, though, would piss me off pretty bad.

His eye is all blar. It is like he thought he was supposed to draw a one-eyed monster and they were like "No, that should be Magneto" and he was all "oh fuck it I'll just draw a nose on the side and call it a three-quarter profile."

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 17 August 2006 21:01 (nineteen years ago)

Um, that panel is okay by me. But I'll hate him if you post something that's actually bad.

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 17 August 2006 21:03 (nineteen years ago)

Okay, I thought at first he was just squinting with his left, but the more I look at it, the more the eyes are just plain fuckored up, especially the way the right eye appears to sit on the side of his head looking straight out at the 'camera.'

Is it just me or does the face of Sue in my last post and the face of Sue here look very dissimilar? Seriously if I am being too demanding in my desire for consistent character appearances please let me know.

Also that is the outfit she is apparently wearing to go have dinner with Stephen Hawking.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 17 August 2006 21:15 (nineteen years ago)

Those faces look the same to me, but they also look VERY generic, like he only has one girl-face that he draws on all women.

And yet he's got so many hair designs he's got to use them all on the same girl!

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 17 August 2006 21:21 (nineteen years ago)

Seriously I am just sad because Mark Millar's mediocre UFF story is being ruined by bad art. I NEEDED TO VENT OKAY.

ZOMBIE EARTH MAGNETO. He looks like yr granddad and loves them sassy 15 year-olds.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 17 August 2006 23:11 (nineteen years ago)

he looks like a 32-year-old bartender with a bleach job

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 18 August 2006 00:26 (nineteen years ago)

He looks like Peter Stormare in Fargo.

chap who would dare to start Raaatpackin (chap), Friday, 18 August 2006 00:45 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah everyone is strangely wrinkle-free, which is pretty classic when Nomar or whatever his name was calls Sue's mother a "wrinkled old hag" when she looks approximately the same age as Sue.

MORAL OF STORY: When UFF isn't good, it is at least good for LAFFS/FURY!

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Friday, 18 August 2006 00:48 (nineteen years ago)

lol @ "did you hear what Mindy said?" Like omigosh, Magneto, don't even go there!

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Friday, 18 August 2006 11:18 (nineteen years ago)

To be clear, all the women look like Victoria Secret's models, not porn stars. And to be fair, I think Curly Sue is when Sue was using her powers. Also, I think the Ms. Storm = "old cow" comment was a joke (either intentional, or a slight jab @ GL's skeez). Otherwise, tho, I'm onboard for the bitchin'.

can we agree that Wierango's was the best Sue Storm of the last coupla decades or so?

well then can we at least agree that I can't name a single other dude who's drawn FF since 1991?

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 18 August 2006 13:48 (nineteen years ago)

Stuart Immomnenmenmen and Pascual Ferry do a nice SS (albeit in a teen stylee).

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 18 August 2006 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

Manfoot: if you haven't been reading the Ultimate FF, DO IT NOW. The new annual (#2) is grebt.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 18 August 2006 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

I got beef with the Ultimate line. Completely irrational beef, I'm sure.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 18 August 2006 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

Eat the beef. UFF is gonna be TIGHT. Snooze or lose. Or something.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 18 August 2006 14:03 (nineteen years ago)

so Mike Carey wrote this annual, then? his X-Men has been kinda sorta alrightishly not offensive, so perchance I'll give this thing a shot. although I still feel I have no use for any the Ultimate titles: I'm not a reader, don't need continuity wiped clean, etc, etc.
