Spider-books for four-year-olds

My four-year-old nephew is a budding Spider-fan. He's never read a comic, but he's got the toys and costumes, and I feel it my duty to introduce him to the source material. He's a bit too young for Essential Volume 1 (although I'm sure he'd love to color in it), and so I was wondering if you kind folks could recommend any Spider-Man books that are fit for the real young ones. Where they're doing it for the kids. I know they make those Marvel Adventure books, or whatever they're called, but I'm thinking more along the lines of a trade paperback, or something more substantial and gift-worthy than a three-dollar single issue. And something that preferrably can be ordered and shipped on-line, since I'm already five days late for his birthday, and wouldn't be able to get to a post office 'til Friday. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking anything appropriate for a 7 or 8-year-old would work, as I'm sure his dad will be helping him read no matter how uncomplicated the book may be.

They're collecting the Marvel Adventures books in tidy little digests!

Also: the FAPPO! strips are U&K. (doi)

Spider-Man & Human Torch: I'm With Stupid is kid-friendly, right?

I think I'll be ordering a couple of those Adventures digests as soon as possible. Thanks for the head's up.

Also I thought about the Torch mini, but then I can't remember how accessible it is to new readers. Although it could definitely be the sort of thing that he likes as a kid, only to realize previously unnoticed levels of awesomeness as he rereads it throughout the years.

His dad got me into comics in the first place, when I was five or six, so I think this could be a damn good present.

Hah! That's awesome.

When I read the mini, I was as close to a complete n00b as a comic reader can be re: Spidey and/or Humang Torch, so I think your nephew would be fine.

I bet you could get a bunch of old issues of Spidey Super Stories for cheap.
