The ending is one of the best endings for a comic book series ever. And it also has McCrea on art.

"Time Flies"
http://www.answers.com/topic/garth-ennis
Troubled Souls i liked, being a semi-serious story about the troubles in northern ireland. the follow up, For A Few Troubles More, was played for laughs and dreadful.
True Faith i can't really remember.
"Other comics Ennis has worked on include Goddess (with Phil Winslade), Bloody Mary (with Carlos Ezquerra), Unknown Soldier (with Killian Plunkett), Pride and Joy (with John Higgins), Heartland (with Steve Dillon) and War Story (with various artists) for DC..."
read most of his vertigo series but Bloody Mary is the only one i'd read again (for the art if nothing else). Oh, and War Stories.
his run on Hellblazer, where he had Constantine constantly in the pub was a real low point of the series imho.

Goddess was so bad, it's hard not to assume that he was just knocking them out in the middle of a massive bender for large parts of the mid-nineties.
Adventures of the Rifle Brigade also good fun, very different from the rest of his was stuff. Like Dicks, it really doesn't need a sequel.
The Kev series have finally stopped having anything to do with Authority, and unsurprisingly are quite enjoyable miltary-based shaggy-dog stories if you like that sort of thing.

isn't the big M too late now in his quest to KILL HITLER? Since the camps are already in existence at this point in the story, right?

JLA/Hitman was ace, it's like they'd barely been away.
Comics Reunion Tours that worked: Formerly Known As The Justice League JLA/Hitman Greyshirt? (same musicians, different material)
That didn't: those Englehart/Rogers things from a few years ago, probably (I didn't try but Rogers art was soo bad on his JLI stuff I did't dare)

It totally escaped me until yesterday (saw a commercial before Midsommar) that there's a The Boys series coming to Bezos-prime this month. Karl Urban as Butcher, Rogen/Goldberg moving on as developers/producers from Preacher to other Ennis work.

i remember the boys being "kingsmen but even more OI HARDMAN OI" with a metric fuckton of oh-so-hilarious gerbil up the butt jokes and *he murdered my girlfriend by dismembering her while i watched* origin story bullshit; i think i'll pass

ennis has aged spectacularly badly for me, a guy who had preacher on his pull list for the entirety of the run. i should likely try hellblazer again sometime to make sure I really am done with him but probably not.

Darrick Robertson art is ugly af too
― Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 15 July 2019 06:27 (five years ago) link
He kinda ruined John Constantine, imo. I mean, his Hellblaze run is okay for what it is, but he's responsible for tacking on a lot of the hardman-isms which have become associated with the character but which weren't present before him. Delano's run is one of my favorites of all time, so the contrast is striking.

Discovered The Boys tv version or the weekend watched first episode and a lot of 2nd last night but was falling asleep. It's changed quite a bit from the comic from what I remember. But has been a few years since I read the comic.May find elements I'm recognising as different have just been reshuffled or put elsewhere in the story arc.Though Preacher just changed things heavily.Seems ok so far. But I enjoyed the comic.

Boys comic is unfilmably Ennis-y; Boys show so far does a good job of maintaining key elements while also being watchable.

The sad thing is that he isn't untalented. Just head-shakingly puerile and more than a little Lord Edgington of Hard Manor. Maybe he'll find his path once he finally graduates junior high school.
