misogynist

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 14 September 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

Anyway, did I miss the Big Questions thread, or am I the only here reading it?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 14 September 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

Heh, I wonder what the criteria for "debut comic" are.

* Luba: Three Daughters by Gilbert Hernandez (Fantagraphics Books)

Apparently this is not out for another 2 1/2 months, but I am looking forward to it!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

"Debut" = particular publication premiering at SPX.

I'm reading (and loving) Big Questions, too! My wife's got one of those bird-in-the-hand T-shirts.

Kevin Huizenga's Curses is one of my favorite books of the year.

Douglas (Douglas), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:34 (nineteen years ago)

im actually really pleased with this list.

anthony easton (anthony), Friday, 15 September 2006 01:05 (nineteen years ago)

I'm psyched for SPX this year. Tony Millionaire will be there!

ng-unit (ng-unit), Friday, 15 September 2006 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

LETS GO

anthony easton (anthony), Friday, 15 September 2006 06:05 (nineteen years ago)

Moomin: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip Book One by Tove Jansson (Drawn & Quarterly)

wtf! dude, is this out already?

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 15 September 2006 08:08 (nineteen years ago)

Naw, most of the books on the "outstanding debut comic" haven't been released yet.

ng-unit (ng-unit), Friday, 15 September 2006 10:44 (nineteen years ago)

These would be even better if they called 'em the Krazy Awards.

M. V. (M.V.), Friday, 15 September 2006 12:45 (nineteen years ago)

a rule stating that to be nominated for outstanding series you have to release at least two issues during the nomination year might be an effective way to clear out some of the deadwood, erase traces of 'gimme a break' autopilot, promote working (note: WORKING) artists who can use/actually might want the break.

j blount (papa la bas), Friday, 15 September 2006 18:00 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know the other two, but surely Wimbledon Green (tedious) and Tricked (godawful) are no match for Fun Home in that category -- I guess Seth gets a free pass 'cause he's Seth. There's a lot of so-so work here (“Somersaulting", etc).
