For me:
52 WEEK #21--wacky Infinity Inc. hijinx
BATMAN #657--boys, boys, I'm sure we can work this out
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #2--because sometimes I enjoy being annoyed
SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #22--fiftee-tooo!
DAREDEVIL #89--Matt (or "Mike") in Europe!
STAN LEE MEETS SPIDER-MAN--because sometimes I enjoy being annoyed
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #100--I usually just buy it in trades, but this looks fun
ULTIMATES 2 #12--because Millar hasn't caused enough damage already
THE COMICS JOURNAL #278--it's been on a roll lately

disappointing goth fest line-up (orion), Monday, 25 September 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, and also Action Comics.

Jessie, do you not have a good comic shop near you @ school? There's gotta be a Newbury Comics somewhere right?

disappointing goth fest line-up (orion), Monday, 25 September 2006 17:36 (nineteen years ago)

lol there is a Newbury comics on NEWBURY STREET and another store (Comicopia) like two blocks from my apartment. But they close at six and I am lame.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Monday, 25 September 2006 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

Nice big fat week to make up for last week's dismal purchase of two floppies (and a rain check for Batman Chronicles Vol. 2).

52 WEEK #21 - INFINITORS INCARCERATED???
ACTION COMICS #843 - Where the hell is Manga Khan???
BATMAN #657 - Is it merely the art that keeps me from enjoying this even a quarter as much as I enjoy ASS?
BLUE BEETLE #7 - This book has been sorta downhill since the awesome #1.
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #2 - THE RETURN OF THE BLUE FAIRY!!!
CAPTAIN AMERICA #22 CW - UNLEASHED!
DAREDEVIL #89 - RELEASHED!
SHE-HULK 2 #12 - DIVORCE COURT!
DRACULA VS CAPONE #1 (OF 3) - I can't believe it would take three issues for THE PRINCE OF THE UNDEAD to defeat a flabby gangster.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 25 September 2006 17:45 (nineteen years ago)

AT SIX? That can't be right!

[huk-l-post]

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 25 September 2006 17:46 (nineteen years ago)

urgh, too much this week: 52, Action, Batman, Amazing Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, Eternals, She-Hulk, Carey's X-Men. I've been waiting for that Essential Thor Vol. 3 for a long time, but no way I can afford it this week.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Monday, 25 September 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

Essential Thor 3 is...essential

I was gonna start a thread abt Groth and Thompson being sued by Ellison this week, but I figured most ppl have read abt it elsewhere already. Anyway, I shall prob. buy the Journal as a gesture of support against that big blowhard Ellison.

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Monday, 25 September 2006 18:22 (nineteen years ago)

guys... i finally read batman and the monster men and it was such a letdown :(

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 25 September 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

You're a letdown (though I'm not feeling compelled to buy Mad Monk).

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 25 September 2006 19:25 (nineteen years ago)

SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE #10: Upper middle-class white girl who thinKs she's got problems.
BATMAN #657: Bruce and his child support payments.
DAREDEVIL #89: Matt Murdock does the ex-pat thing, with Gertrude Stein takes over Matt's ninja training (making sure to resume where Stick left off).

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Monday, 25 September 2006 19:47 (nineteen years ago)

i didn't dig the monster men art at all and i thought it totally failed at being continuous with year: one in terms of tone, writing, art etc. plus it was kinda boring.

i really wanted to love it though!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 25 September 2006 19:53 (nineteen years ago)

You didn't like the art AT ALL?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 25 September 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

no i thought it looked like lame fan art

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 25 September 2006 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

haha slocki totally otm, watt wagner still can't draw the same damm face two panels in a row, and hello, backgrounds

Teen Titans?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:51 (nineteen years ago)

Sock Monkey (how many years since an issue of this?)
Treehouse Of Horror (how many years since a good issue of this?)
Comics Journal (always good)

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

52 (Hurrah! lets meet some of the all new, made up Teen Titans!!)
Justice League of America (Hurrah! lets watch Red Tornado be all emo for another entire issue!)
Supergirl and the Legion of Superheros (hurrah! finally some actual proper supervillains!)
Secret Six (hurrah! lets have a pointless fight with the Doom Patrol!)

that is probably the most comics I have ever bought in a single week!

Mark Co (Markco), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:18 (nineteen years ago)

Oh man! TREEHOUSE OF HORROR--I didn't even notice that on the schedule! This one's got Kyle Baker in it, and I really liked the one last year or the year before that had a "Tomb of Dracula" parody by Wolfman & Colan and a "Swamp Thing" parody by Wein & Wrightson...

Douglas (Douglas), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

I used to have a sweet nylon Spider-Man wallet that I used until I was far too old to be using a Spider-Man wallet in a non-HEY LOOK, SPIDER-MAN WALLET fashion.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:21 (nineteen years ago)

was i the only one who read:

BETTY & VERONICA DIGEST BIG BANG SUPER FRANKENSTEIN BLOWJOB

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 20:57 (nineteen years ago)

i'd certainly like to read that one!

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 23:00 (nineteen years ago)

dirty old man.

disappointing goth fest line-up (orion), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 03:44 (nineteen years ago)

so did anyone get challengers of the unknown

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

i glommed Daredevil, Usagi Yojimbo, GMO Bats, teh first issue of Spidey loves Mary Jane (store guy swore by it) and a seventy dollar Jim Woodring Japanese import octo-monster vinyl figure for my girl to show i care.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

This guy right here

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 21:03 (nineteen years ago)

I'll be getting Challengers of the Unknown whenever it comes out. Which wasn't today. Was it?

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Thursday, 28 September 2006 00:16 (nineteen years ago)

it wasn't?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 28 September 2006 00:40 (nineteen years ago)

Somehow I missed both Spidey Loves MJ & Shulkie during my hurried trip through the store. Blimey. I did get Captain America, though. I guess I'll have to go back tomorrow.

disappointing goth fest line-up (orion), Thursday, 28 September 2006 01:11 (nineteen years ago)

Nope, no Challengers. Which is good. Maybe next week I'll be able to afford it. It or Essential Thor Vol. 3. Or hopefully even both.

anybody else read A-blazin' Spiderpants? They're really trying as hard as possible to make us want to punch Tony Stark in the nose.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Thursday, 28 September 2006 04:00 (nineteen years ago)

Dear Brad Meltzer

I did not need to hear about Red Tornado's chafed knob end in this issue of JLA. Thanks

Mark Co (Markco), Thursday, 28 September 2006 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

Dear anyone reading BRAD MELTZER's JLA: you get what you deserve.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 28 September 2006 14:11 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha ha!
I haven't got my comics yet (some border brou-ha-ha earlier this week delayed 'em). Maybe I should avoid JLA. Maybe I should quit smoking, too. YEAH RIGHT.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 28 September 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

DO YOU HATE BABY JESUS TOO PEOPLE JESUS

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 28 September 2006 17:06 (nineteen years ago)

(Next up for me: Why Idi Amin Was An OK Dude)

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 28 September 2006 17:06 (nineteen years ago)

52, Batman, & Justice League. I was thinking about starting to pick up Teen Titans for I started to get Birds of Prey and Green Arrow now, too. I want to read Secret Six but missed the first 3 issues. Sad emotioncon.

christopherscottknudsen (christopherscottknudsen), Thursday, 28 September 2006 17:34 (nineteen years ago)

Green Arrow is all the sad emoticon you need.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 28 September 2006 17:52 (nineteen years ago)

Teen Tightangs is also u_u

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 28 September 2006 17:55 (nineteen years ago)

DAREDEVIL: Lark's a stunner, no doubt. He surpassed my earlier assessment of him ("exquisite") with this issue.

SPIDER MAN LOVES MARY JANE: The Flash scenes falter ("decent" nonetheless), offsetting the immensely wonderful MJ/SPIDEY scenes.

also: BY GOD IS HELLBLAZER (WHICH I RECIEVED GRATIS WITH MY PURCHASE) AWFUL.

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Thursday, 28 September 2006 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

Haven't read DD yet (I'm saving it or something), but I did go through it looking at the art, and yeah, Lark is really outdoing himself.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Thursday, 28 September 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know if any of them blew minds, but I certainly enjoyed Shulkie, Batmang, Batmang & the Mad Mank, and Jack of Furrbles.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 28 September 2006 19:54 (nineteen years ago)

BatMoz: Good, better. Art (possibly the inking) is still pretty blah.
52: WELL, IT'S BETTER THAN JLA.
JLA: DO ANDROIDS BLOW ELECTRONIC CHUNKS?
Blue Beetle: This is fun again. Cully Hamner should be named Cully Pemncil-and-Imnks.
ACTION: WOO-YEAH until the last page where it announces next ish. BUZZKILL.
Haven't read my marvel stuff yet. Too busy shaking my head at my new expensive place which is A SHITHOLE.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 28 September 2006 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

Ultimates was a bit rubbish, wasn't it?

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 28 September 2006 21:53 (nineteen years ago)

Ultimates was okay, but the story wasn't structured as well as it could have been, and the art was overworked and some of it was difficult to follow. The Cap Vs. Other Dude fight seemed really overthought.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Thursday, 28 September 2006 22:28 (nineteen years ago)

Overthought on the part of Hitch, that is. Not Millar. With Millar, it may be the other way around.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Thursday, 28 September 2006 22:34 (nineteen years ago)

I thought the scenes in Action detailing the populace of metropolis's reactiont to OMG SUPERMAN IN ACTION i thought were kinda lame.
"this is superman! he don't roll like dat!" wtf

dd was great, as was spidey & MJ. ultimates continues to be annoyingly convoluted.

disappointing goth fest line-up (orion), Thursday, 28 September 2006 23:00 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, I've got to get all those Kirby Thor Essentials. Gleefully batshit.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 29 September 2006 04:28 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, what's up with "Superman don't roll like that!"? It's like KB just saw SPidey-2 for the first time, and also Hell's Kitchen.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 29 September 2006 06:42 (nineteen years ago)

Blame Nicienza (sic) for that, homes!

NOTE TO TOM EWING: The first issue of the Union Jack mini-series features an appearance by FASAUD THE LIVING TELEVISION! (nb: He's in a suit.)

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 29 September 2006 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

Also: Civil War: WTF? The x-over issues (Ms. Marvel chasing Arachne & The Shroud; the last Captain America w/ Agent 13 and DR. FAUSTUS; even Spidey going "look @ me" / "lol @ Tony") are a lot more interesting (and less insulting) than the actual mini. GET ONE OVER YOURSELF MILLAR.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 29 September 2006 12:39 (nineteen years ago)

I'm starting to think Millar defends Liefeld because Millar is the Liefeld of comic writers.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 29 September 2006 12:50 (nineteen years ago)

Superman's been so much fun lately, Busiek has a free pass through clicheville as far as I'm concerned.

Ultimates was just witless, adolescent ("Hands off," ho ho) and gratuitously violent (in a bad way), which is a shame, as it's been a great run up to this point.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Friday, 29 September 2006 13:43 (nineteen years ago)

!

Hey, that's actually not bad.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Friday, 29 September 2006 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

Batman was somewhat disappointing and blah (at least w/ regard to the excellent previous issue) - I suspect it'll become retroactively brilliant when we learn that Batman's brat is really Bat-Mite.

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Friday, 29 September 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

I thought Batman was alright. I think Batman's kid is a douche, but I think that's the point. I liked when Batman snapped at him. Also liked: Robin getting beat up.

disappointing goth fest line-up (orion), Friday, 29 September 2006 15:51 (nineteen years ago)

Batman's my favourite thing right now, I think. I like how unpretentious it is. And the jokes are good. There should be more good jokes in comics.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Friday, 29 September 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

Batman's pretty laid-back and straight-forward for a Morrison comic, true, but it is genuinely funny, and thus far a perfectly acceptable superhero yarn.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Friday, 29 September 2006 17:10 (nineteen years ago)

Gah, there was a TPB (I don't think it was a Showcase Presents) that I had wanted to pick up in the past several weeks. ILC, read my mind!
