David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 30 October 2006 15:20 (nineteen years ago)

52.5, apocalypse nerd

It's the lazy and immoral way to become super hip. (Austin, Still), Monday, 30 October 2006 15:29 (nineteen years ago)

Well, unless there's some nice changes, it's Superman Confidential, Detective, 52, and Uncanny X-Men for me.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:40 (nineteen years ago)

GOTHAM CENTRAL VOL 4 THE QUICK AND THE DEAD TP $14.99

This is new, right? If so I am in for it and She-Hulk.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 30 October 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

52.5, apocalypse nerd

These seem to be coming out semi-annually, like post-apocalyptic mail deliveries.

M. V. (M.V.), Monday, 30 October 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

GOTHAM CENTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL

also i noticed that from hell has been reprinted so i can finally get it! woot woot!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 30 October 2006 18:15 (nineteen years ago)

Barring any unexpected chances:

52 WEEK 26--maybe they'll even follow up on that cliffhanger
THE ALL-NEW ATOM #5--one of the most charming books around
GOTHAM CENTRAL VOL. 4--a better series than anyone reading any Bat-books that weren't this realized
SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL #1--Darwyn Cooke & Tim Sale! Mmm!
IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #2--I seem to have liked the first issue of this more than anyone else here

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 30 October 2006 21:47 (nineteen years ago)

SEP060211 52 WEEK #26 $2.50
SEP060216 ALL NEW ATOM #5 $2.99
AUG060196 BLUE BEETLE #8 $2.99

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 00:22 (nineteen years ago)

52 WEEK #26 - Halfway point.
BLUE BEETLE #8 - 2/3 point. Actually, once the NuGodz biz gets cooking, this will either be really good, or crossover with Mystery in Space.
DETECTIVE COMICS #825 - When's Williams coming back?
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #3 - More Red Tornado itchy balls jokes please!
MIDNIGHTER VAR EDITION A #1 - Is Sprouse actually drawing this, or just one of the covers.
IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #2 - Please be more irredeemable.
MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN #21 - BIG SPIDEY FUN (I'm almost finished Ess Am Spi-Man #6 - with the death of Gwen Stacy, and totally macking on Spidey-action right now).
SHE-HULK 2 #13 - doo doo doo.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 00:32 (nineteen years ago)

Urgh, too much this week: 52, Atom, Superman Confidential, Agents of Atlas, Beyond, Irredeemable Ant-Man, She-Hulk, and Uncanny X-Men. Also might grab Avengers Next if it looks any good.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 01:23 (nineteen years ago)

52's been pretty good lately!

j blount (papa la bas), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 04:50 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, 52 is definitely picking up some momentum. I'm hoping for them to catch up with Starfire, Animal Man, and Adam Strange again soon, though. C'mon, the Emerald Eye!

Hey can you guys let me know if Ant Man is more irredeemable in issue #2? If he is, I'll get it a bit late, but otherwise eh, nah.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 05:45 (nineteen years ago)

TALES DESIGNED TO THRIZZLE!!!!

Oh, and Detective Comics, Agents of Atlas, and Criminal too, I suppose.

The Yellow Kid (The Yellow Kid), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 08:06 (nineteen years ago)

Sprouse is drawing The Midnighter there's a piece in this month's Comics International about it.

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

UNEXPECTEDLY SPARSE PICKS:

TALES DESIGNED TO THRIZZLE #3: Jog was right - that title becomes more hilarious the more dated it becomes.
SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL #1: Darwyn Cooke writing Superman - get it because you're worth it.

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

OH, AND:

BATMAN #I forget: Wasn't that "dozens o'Man-Bats" issue awesome?

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 20:07 (nineteen years ago)

+ Detective for me, and I will check out that Superman.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 20:09 (nineteen years ago)

PLUS (JUST NOTICED THIS):

LOVE ROMA VOL. 4: Which is fun. You might like it.

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 20:34 (nineteen years ago)

Don't buy comics that Darwyn Cooke writes. It will only encourage him to not DRAW anymore. If he wants to write AND draw, fine. But Darwyn Cooke not drawing is a terrible waste.
Though his Spirit is finally coming soon, right? (which also feels like a bit of a waste of Darwyn Cooke)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 31 October 2006 22:22 (nineteen years ago)

She-hulk = softpedalling on the interesting parts of the last few issues (that Starfox is a bad mang demigod), bah! Also still married!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 2 November 2006 14:10 (nineteen years ago)

kinda agree with you there, Andrew, but that last page made me laugh out loud in a burrito joint yesterday, so it's not entirely bad.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Thursday, 2 November 2006 15:12 (nineteen years ago)

52: continues to be pretty entertaining to read and a hell of a lot of fun to write about. (Yes, there's a new post at http://52-pickup.blogspot.com .)
Criminal, which I neglected to mention above: really good Heist-Gone-Wrong scene this issue, although I have no idea how Brubaker's gonna be able to keep the protagonist w/ stupid goatee alive for a series' worth of stories.
The Nightly News, picked up on a whim: awful but, uh, graphically appealing.
Irredeemable Ant-Man: packed with events--I love the "recompressed" style, and the ant's recap on the first page--but I'm still waiting for it to get to the big plot proper.

Douglas (Douglas), Thursday, 2 November 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

HEADLINE!:

SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL VERY VERY GOOD, SURPRISING NO ONE

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Thursday, 2 November 2006 21:06 (nineteen years ago)

52 is really getting good, isn't it? Even this week's, a typical "nothing happens" stasis issue, was a lot better than usual.

(As an addendum, if anyone (ha!) on this board lives in Toronto, me and my friends' DJ night has a comics-themed (and very hurriedly photoshopped) poster this month, which is, er, here.)

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 2 November 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

DICK TRACY Reprint book is bitchin'! Desperate Peanuts ripoff design, tho.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Thursday, 2 November 2006 22:43 (nineteen years ago)

word dat

occasional mongrel (kit brash), Friday, 3 November 2006 01:38 (nineteen years ago)

TDTTHRIZZLE = AWESOME

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 3 November 2006 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

I looked at, but did not buy, the Dick Tracey bk - seems as if it might be a while before we get to the really primo Gould

I did buy Paul Gravett and Peter Stanbury's excellent new bk abt British Comics, which includes many treasures and well-chosen photos, and then saw Paul give a superb talk abt German and French comics later on this evening

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 3 November 2006 22:39 (nineteen years ago)

I was thinking about Paul's book myself.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 4 November 2006 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

I bought Detective without looking to see if it was by Dini, and it kinda sucks.

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 4 November 2006 15:43 (nineteen years ago)

Like it can't decide if it wants to be wa-hey Adam West Batman or, you know, status quo Batman.

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 4 November 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

The Dick Tracey is really good reading; Gould was solid out the gate.
It's just not batshit crazy; no squidface or prunepusses yet.
