Or: what happens when Douglas doesn't get here in time to create deez threads (bwah hah hah). Anyway, it's all speculative right now, BUT:

- BATMAN #658 (ninja Batkid wheee!)
- STORMWATCH PHD #1 (Mahnke lips wheee!)
- DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2 (BKV Doc wheee!)
- AVENGERS EARTHS MIGHTIEST HEROES II #1 (OF 8) (Joe Casey Marvel nostalgia wheee!)
- BULLET POINTS #1 (OF 5) (Tommy Lee Edwards wheee! but JMS booo!)
- NEW ACTION PHILOSOPHERS (FUCK YEAH!!!!!)

I will also schill for the RAGMOP compendium that's (supposedly) out this week, as well, if you wish, and you hate Googling.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 6 November 2006 16:09 (eighteen years ago)

52 WEEK #27 (On the downhill stretch)
BATMAN #658 (Still not good enough)
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4 (see previous, but prettier)
GEN 13 #2 (Ummm... undecided)
GREEN ARROW #68 (MUST STOP BUYING)
JLA CLASSIFIED #29 (Howard Chaykin's run has probably been one of the best on this title, but I suspect I'm the only one buying it)
MARTIAN MANHUNTER #4 (Better than I thought it would be)
STORMWATCH PHD #1 (Know nothing about this but have fallen into buying all the ALL NEW GOOD WRITERS Wildstorm books)
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2 (This could actually turn into a great anthology series - we're back with a good Spectre, for starters)
JACK STAFF #12 (IS THIS THE END?)
DOCTOR STRANGE OATH #2 (Yay or Meh? YOU DECIDE)
ETERNALS #5 (Very, very pretty. Dreadful writing.)
ULTIMATE X-MEN #76 (I HAEV LOST TRACK)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 November 2006 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

Aldo! My conspicuous consumption bro!

- what you hate about Gaimanternals? It's totally enjoyable!
- writer for Stormwatch: Miami is a TV writer dude that did time on a DC Deadshot mini (that Huk bought, I think), and is also writing the current Marvel Union Jack mini (which is pretty good!)
- please to give synopsis on JLA:Chaykin?
- GOD YES STOP WITH THE GREEN ARROW

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 6 November 2006 16:33 (eighteen years ago)

Batman
Batmonk
Doc Strange
Action Philosophers
Criminal from last week

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 November 2006 16:45 (eighteen years ago)

I can imagine that Eternals would be quite annoying if you actually knew who the Eternals were and what their backstory was. If you were me, in other words, but a version of me that was paying to read them.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 6 November 2006 16:47 (eighteen years ago)

Gaimanternals just hasn't gripped me at all. The writing is so ponderous and exposition-heavy that JRJr's Kirbyisms are nearly not enough. (But then I think I am the biggest Gaimang naysayer on here anyway, so not surprising)

I am enjoying Union Jack, so yay Stromwatch

JLChaykin has them explicitly breaking UN sanctions in a Central American banana republic which is cultivating metahumans. It's a bit like the Montoya/Sage in Khandaq section of 52 but has SUPERHERO FITEING in it too. (Slott arc next, btw)

I think I will be bold and cancel Green Arrow (and remember to cancel Defective now Paul Dini's gone and Batmang after next month's final GMo issue)

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 November 2006 16:58 (eighteen years ago)

52, Batman, Superman, Annihilation, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Doctor Strange, Eternals.

Morrison's exit from Batman is only temporary, yes? I thought there was a four-issue Ostrander/Mandrake story (which is not at all a bad thing), followed up with more Morrison. Has that changed?

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Monday, 6 November 2006 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, that's the Batplan!

Also, aldo, the fillum-in for Detective was just a one-time deal - Dini's back next issue (I think)!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 6 November 2006 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

The real list is up: http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/shipping_110806.txt

For me:

52 WEEK #27--the creepy Ralph-gets-a-shot-at-revenge issue
BATMAN #658--although I probably will not pay attention during the non-GMO fill-in
DOCTOR STRANGE: THE OATH #2--see, the reason I wait for the real list is "The Escapists" fell off from the "expected" list!
POPEYE VOL. 1 I YAM WHAT I YAM HC--actually picked this up already at Stumptown, saving it to read as a treat

Jeez. For one of the longest shipping lists I've seen in a while, I'm sure not getting a lot.

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 6 November 2006 17:44 (eighteen years ago)

Fables
Y

(which actually makes it a pretty big week for me)

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 November 2006 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

I will not cancel Bat-titles then. And I need to try and find Supermang Confiddlenting from last week.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 November 2006 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

Strange Doctor Oath
Last the Y, Man
Batman

Is Stormwatch PHD going to chronicle the hairy world of graduate metahumans trying to secure research funding?

c('°c) (Leee), Monday, 6 November 2006 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

LIST:
BATMAN #65?: with manbats, maybe?
DOCTOR STRANGE - THE OATH #2: with cat-gods, maybe?

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Monday, 6 November 2006 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

Batman and POPEYE POPEYE POPEYE POPEYE!
They've figured out how to get me: bind comic strips twixt hard covers, make em complete runs and sell em for under forty bucks. CAUGHT

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 6 November 2006 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

Looking like 52, Batman, Doctor Strange, and Ultimate X-Men right now.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Monday, 6 November 2006 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

Oh and I need to get The Other Side #2 cos I forgot that last week.

blount: this will answer all your questions.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 04:27 (eighteen years ago)

I read Y in trades and somehow I still read that massive spoiler anyway and I think I'm glad that I did because maybe now I won't be disappointed when that comes along.

52 WEEK #27
BATMAN #658
GREEN ARROW #68
SUPERMAN #657
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2

I wish I was picking up Martian Manhunter. What I read, it seemed like it was good enough. I should have picked this up instead of Trials of Shazaam or the Creeper.

christopherscottknudsen (christopherscottknudsen), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 09:52 (eighteen years ago)

New issue of 52 was definitely one of the best thus far, esp. the scene with Skeets.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Thursday, 9 November 2006 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

With the exception of 52 -- you know 52's getting better when even Ralph's scenes are good -- all a bit disappointing this week: Batman, Dr Strange, Superman all pretty blah, considering their set-ups.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 9 November 2006 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

It is done. Green Arrow is finally off my pull list.

I couldn't find a true FINGER pic.

I bought the Popeye bk from my local comic shopp today (Forbidden Planet in Glasgow) - aside from the content (which is obv some of the greatest comics ever) the whole format/presentation is really something - FUCK A 52

BATMAN fluctuates according to its own whims. This week - very good; Kubert seems to have stepped up his game slightly (storytelling w/ a modicum of clarity, crosshatching a bit toned down, excellent panel structure (esp. that two page "man bat invasion!" scene)). In terms of flashy (yet murky) artists who draw Wolverine killin' folks, he's not the poor man's Marc Silvestri anymore. ALSO: Morrison writes a fine, fine Alfred.

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Saturday, 11 November 2006 18:51 (eighteen years ago)

I dropped Green Arrow this week/month too!
I still haven't picked up my funny books this week, but I've read a few.
Martian Manhunter has taken a turn for the suck, Green Arrow sucks all the way home, and Teen Titans sucks like a suckhole of suckitude on the suck-express to sucksville.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Saturday, 11 November 2006 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

I bought Bullet Points, cuz I like TLE. I don't even know what it's about, but it has chunky Iron Man on the cover, so it must be cool, right fellas?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Sunday, 12 November 2006 00:30 (eighteen years ago)

What is making you all drop Green Arrow? I know nothing about what's going on in that book aside from the lame-ass "Ollie for Mayor!" thing.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Sunday, 12 November 2006 04:13 (eighteen years ago)

A. Kubert was really good for an A. Kubert in this week's Batmang, though a few panels looked sorta lifted right outta DKR.
Also, last week's Supes Conferential was really really good, even though I still associate T. Sale's Supes w/ Loeb's soporofic excess of schmaltz A Soup for All Seasoning, which is really ASS's evil twin.
Lowlights: Green Lantern, w/ Johns calling back to his own half-assed set-up, like he was Dane Cook; Bullet Points, more like Bullet Pointless (nice art tho)
Highlights: Busiek poops on Crisis with BOFFO art in Superman; Batmang surrenders to Dorothy (i don't know what that means); 52 is NEARLY creepy; Action Philoz came out

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

As to what's wrong with Green Arrow...Winick followed up the OYL story with A FOUR-ISSUE FLASHBACK, which y'know, defeats the whole purpose of OYL, which is to skip boring set-up and explanations and just jump right in to new Stati Quo, amirite? Move forward into NEWNESS.
So now we got to spend four issues LEARNING THINGS WE ALREADY KNEW, such as, GA carries a sword, GA isn't such a suck-ass hand-to-hand combatant anymore, Speedy is a girl, GA JR grew a beard. And with the useless art, you actually get more out just reading the solicits for the issues.
Next issue in GA, we're reminded of the last time Winick had an interesting storyline as RED HOOD visits Star City. CAN DOUG MAHNKE BE FAR BEHIND??? YES, YES HE CAN.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 04:55 (eighteen years ago)

OMG DROP GREEN LANTERD DUDE

If you want Johns off the title, you'll have to stop contributing to his sales. And maim all his fans.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 13 November 2006 05:29 (eighteen years ago)

Grim Lanyard is actually the only unjustifiable thing still on my list. I just wish Johns would go back to what he was like on the Flash, ie, ENJOYABLE.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 06:25 (eighteen years ago)

and frug, I forgot to buy TOTU2

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 06:28 (eighteen years ago)

WTF is wrong with you, Huk, that you have to rename every single title? You're like some guy still calling George W Bush 'The Resident', except that at least used to have a point.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 13 November 2006 11:07 (eighteen years ago)

it's fun?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 11:11 (eighteen years ago)

and hey! I only changed one title in this thread, and David R. changed it first! my two bigger posts used the correct titles (except Batmang), and I was just too lazy to write out Tales Of The Unexpected, that's all.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

anyway, sorry if it bugs you. it's kinda sorta supposed to be obnoxious, like Warlock Mag. I'll try to use more discretion w/r/t to goofing on titles.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 12:06 (eighteen years ago)

Batmang, Supes Conferential, Bullet Pointless, A Soup for All Seasoning, Action Philoz... the first step is admitting you've got a problem.

It doesn't bother me that much, but a concentration of it really bugs me. I was being really rude, though, sorry.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 13 November 2006 13:11 (eighteen years ago)

no prob
Bullet Pointless, I was at least trying to make a point with (that JMS's alternate history of Marvel Comics made me think "So what?", like Steve Rogers as Iron Man didn't actually do anything, and then jumping from ww2 into the fifties/sixties with Peter Parker getting gamma-rayed seemed to point to a pretty superficial examination of the premise and a waste of Tommy Lee Edwards art).

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 13 November 2006 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

Supes Conferential is a far more accurate title for that first issue.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Monday, 13 November 2006 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

all a bit disappointing this week: Batman, Dr Strange, Superman all pretty blah, considering their set-ups.

I thought Batman and Dr. Strange were both really good this week! "I've got a lot of stuff no one knows about" = !!

Fables on the other hand was incredibly anticlimactic. Same for Y, really.
