How come I take better care of my records than I do my comics?

I don't even bag and board. They're just lying on the floor.

WHY?

Comics still work okay if they get stepped on. Also have less replayability.

I think I'm almost more convinced of a solid aftermarket for LPs than I am for comics.

Comics are ephemera, music is forever, maaaan.

OK, so last night at my birthday party we were playing SingStar, some folks were doing the 80's random medley and everyone was dancing along and apparently we caused such chaos that suddenly EVERYTHING FELL OFF MY SHELVES!!! Hundreds of CDs, books and comics are now strewn across my living room floor.

Many of the CD cases are broken, of course ;_; I don't think anything's happened to the comics, tho I suppose some might have some wine on them.

John Cusack is cooler than Kevin Smith.

I treat my comics like shit on principle, possibly to assuage the guilt of being a near-thirty-something who still buys comics, but mostly because I prefere to think of comics as disposable -- that's part of comics' appeal for me. As long as they're in decent enough condition for one of my kids to read (not that they've been born yet), that's fine by me.

(Although considering I spent most of my childhood reading DC comics during one of their crappiest eras -- from just after Invasion to just before Bloodlines -- I'd hope my kids had better taste in comics than me.)
