Because all this DC DC DC DC talk is really annoying! Shyeah!

Noted:

- "Alex Maleev unveils another new fantastic art style especially for this very emotional issue" of CIVIL WAR: THE CONFESSION. Note to AM: more Klimt, less body paint kthx.

- "NOTE: NOT ACTUAL TITLE," because planning is for pussies

- "...classic tales from Amazing Spider-Man #177 and #347..."; if they keep lowering the bar like this, then I'm gonna become an Olympic pole vaulter.

- SPIDER-MAN/FANTASTIC FOUR #1 (of 4)
Written by JEFF PARKER
Pencils and Cover by MIKE WIERINGO

yyayayayayayayayayyayayayayayayyay

- the LONERS mini, not so hot on; Jason Pearson's Breakfast Club cover, on the other hand...

- "Superstar" artist NIKO HENRICHON (from PRIDE OF BAGHDAD) has the privilege of drawring part of an issue of NEW X-MEN, the lucky bastard.

- Cameron Stewart + Ego The Living Planet = luv

- A NOVA ongoing, with "superstars" all over the place, because middling sales of around 20-25K demanded it!

- Yeah, there's that Whedon-does-RUNAWAYS thing, too.

* What else has Jeff Parker done? The combination of Spidey, FF, and Wieringo is enough to make me pick it up... And this sure doesn't hurt:

an adventure set nowhere near a CIVIL WAR (and upon which we will not put a CIVIL WAR TIE-IN label)

* I always feel bad for the Ultimate solicits, having to refer to Ultimate Daredevil and Ultimate Vision. Everything automatically sounds lame.

* CLASSIFIED INFORMATION

Oh, what the fuck, shut up.

* Oeming on Omega Flight would intrigue me if it weren't spinning out of Civl War.

* MARVEL ZOMBIES/ARMY OF DARKNESS??

* The ESSENTIAL SPIDER-MAN reprints have I think now reached the point of reprinting comics I read new.

If MARVELOUS MATT MAXWELL were lurking, he could speak up for his pal.

Currently, he (Parker) is writing the MARVEL ADVENTURES AVENGERS (aka The Book With Ego In Love), the enjoyable AGENTS OF ATLAS mini (bringing back some Atlas characters for a good ol' roll in the hay) and a throwbacky Silver-Age X-romp, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. Also, the indie book that made his name (THE INTERMAN) is supposed to be fun on a stick.

Based on this evidence, he seems to be a solid, reliable, superhero yarn-spinner of the Roger Stern / Tom DeFalco pre-PAIBOK variety.

Man, the soft spot in my heart for Stern's Avengers has never hardened.

Sounds good, especially given the solicit. I'll check out X-MEN: FIRST CLASS in the meantime, Silver Agey is right up my alley lately.

Stern's Avengers really only got gd once Buscema/Palmer took over the art - those Al Milgrom-drawn issues suck bigtime - hurrah for the 'Marvel Method'

That Gil Kane/Craig Russell drawn version of the Jungle Book is a bit of a neglected gem, nice to hear of a decent reprint all these years later

Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness is gonna suck, isn't it?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 18 January 2007 05:25 (nineteen years ago)

Don't you say that.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 18 January 2007 05:39 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wait, Kirkman's not writing it. Shit.
