Johns needs: a co-writer, to nut up
Jenkins needs: to be beat about the head for the Sentry, to nut up

I need: a nasal decongestant, a Q-Tip, a massage, a burrito, to nut up

I seem to remember really enjoying PJ when I first heard of him back in the Hellblazer days when he was the designated whore to take over for Eddie Campbell after Alec MacGuinness refused to write a story where Constantine goes on a spirit journey through the Dreamtime (and in fact, PJs version of that arc was pretty dreadful, but after that he got rather interesting.)

Anyway, I gather he's considered a faux-prestige hackaroonie these days.

Candy: tastes like chicken, if chicken was a candy. (Austin, Still), Friday, 26 January 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

I can't remember what I thought of his Spider-Man even though I know David and I talked about it just the other --... year, I guess. But still! It was right here!

Anyway -- Origin: not horrible on its own merits, but deeply unsatisfying in context (and context was the whole point). The Inhumans: pretty good. Sentry: Marvel Goes Vertigo But Does Totally UnVertigo-like Silver Agey Marketing For It.

Did he write the Hulk/Darkness crossover or am I just thinking he did because he's written both titles?

I like Jenkins' Inhumans series better than anything I can think of that I've read by Johns, but Jae Lee's artwork probably has something to do with that. Caveat: I credit Busiek rather than Johns for Up, Up, and Away's greatness.

Obvious statement: When Johns isn't awful, he's actually kinda okay. He just needs to up his "awful:kinda okay" ratio a bit.

Kinda okay is below my minimum level for "you should be allowed write a comic", though.

Jenkins is at least occasionally not dull.
