David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 29 January 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

I thought you were kidding about the Spider-Ham thing!

Jackoff Abels, Annihilation (why did I think this had ended already?), Daredevil, Gunslinger. Maybe Uncle Scrooge. Eventually TPBs of Seven Soldiers and Doom Patrol.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 29 January 2007 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

Mad Monk
Jack of Fables
maybe Doom Patrol trade (finally got around to finishing vol. 4 last night)

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 29 January 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

52, Annihilation, Daredevil, X-Men.

I would pick up Seven Soldiers and Doom Patrol, but the shop's currently got non-new release tpb's for 20% off, so I'll probably pick up some older stuff instead. And where does the DP trade pick up? I might already have all that stuff in singles.

barefoot manthing (Garrett Martin), Monday, 29 January 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

Daredevil, only. Wow, it's been a long time since I had a one-comic week. Luckily I haven't been to the store in a few weeks, so there'll be a nice backlog.

Oblivious Lad. (Oblivious Lad), Monday, 29 January 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

This is the week where ILX catches up on its sleep.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 29 January 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

Richard Baez (Johnny Logic), Monday, 29 January 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

Just Daredevs and 52 for me.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Monday, 29 January 2007 23:22 (eighteen years ago)

nothing

but if I see the Negative Burn in the shop sometime I'll pick it up and see if it had a Mr Mamoulian page in this month

nu-mongrel (kit brash), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 04:17 (eighteen years ago)

Huk, is that Kolchak book the Moonstone one? Did they ever get any good? I remember trying the first couple and not being overly impressed.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 09:25 (eighteen years ago)

I have no idea. I was trying to make a James Kolchaka joke. I failed, obviously.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 30 January 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

52, Carey X-Men, Ultimate FF, Daredevil, Doom Patrol: Magic Bus, and Seven Soldiers Vol 4.

Matthew Perpetua!!! (fluxblogperpetua), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

Especially because his name is James Kochalka?

nu-mongrel (kit brash), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 08:34 (eighteen years ago)

you see, that's the joke.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 19:36 (eighteen years ago)

it is possible that you spend TOO MUCH TIME rearranging letters in comics-related proper nouns

mu-nongrel (kit brash), Thursday, 1 February 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)

Did D-A-R-E-D-E-V-I-L ship this week? I didn't get one!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 2 February 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

yup.

chaki (chaki), Friday, 2 February 2007 06:10 (eighteen years ago)

its sad :(

chaki (chaki), Friday, 2 February 2007 06:10 (eighteen years ago)

Just trades - seven soldiers, doom patrol, astonishing x-men

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 2 February 2007 12:01 (eighteen years ago)

On the way to picking up Ex Machina, I also got Cosmic Odyssey! I am squeeing with Mignolantipication.

c(,,c) (Leee), Monday, 5 February 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

Oh dear, 52 is rather naff this week.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 20:42 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, this was definitely among the worst weeks of 52.

Matthew Perpetua!!! (fluxblogperpetua), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

It it mostly Steel / Luthor nonsense?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 20:49 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, it's mostly a big fight scene, and you know, fine, the story had to go there eventually, but without spoiling things, there's a disconnect between the script and the art that makes it difficult to suspend disbelief.

Matthew Perpetua!!! (fluxblogperpetua), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

I think it's a disconnect between the script and the script.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 8 February 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

Weirdly enough, the dialogue looks like Morrison wrote it, right down to the "Tt."

Douglas (Douglas), Thursday, 8 February 2007 07:51 (eighteen years ago)

Well, I was mainly thinking of the way Steel is horribly injured and yet the artist does not really convey this fact at all. All the stuff with the fake powers etc, I thought that was nonsensical from the beginning, so I can't get too worked up about it.

And c'mon, Morrison has written more than his fair share of incoherant, anticlimactic fight scenes involving poorly thought-out pseudoscience. It would have been more surprising if he wasn't directly involved with writing this stuff.

M Perpetua (mperpetua), Thursday, 8 February 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, y'all remember New X-Men #150, for example?

M Perpetua (mperpetua), Thursday, 8 February 2007 14:08 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, that issue is a LOT better, but it's still a total mess.

M Perpetua (mperpetua), Thursday, 8 February 2007 14:08 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, y'all remember New X-Men #150, for example?

Yes, immediately!

PS: No.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 8 February 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)

I think the artist started out convey the gravity of Steel's injuries, but then THE SCRIPT called for Steel to not act like he was STABBED IN THE GUT with a blunt object, so the artist conveyed that. Also, Fecal Matter? COME ON.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 9 February 2007 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, good point.

Matthew Perpetua!!! (fluxblogperpetua), Friday, 9 February 2007 00:40 (eighteen years ago)

The fecal matter line was the best thing about this issue.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Friday, 9 February 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)

I think some of the adverts pages wetre better than that line.

I don't know whether to play the trumpet, read a book or be a lesbian. (aldo_cow, Friday, 9 February 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

Like Douglas, I thought that Wonder Woman ad was part of the story! I was kinda let down that it wasn't.
