Kind of slim pickings, looking at the panel schedules again/ OTOH, I do plan on some dumpster diving for:
1. Cloak & Dagger #8
2. Casanova #6

And Mignola sketches!

Leee, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)

next weekend.

sheep sheet, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:08 (eighteen years ago)

Oh.

Leee, Wednesday, 21 February 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

I would probably go, but it turns out I have to dang move that weekend. Moving is bad.

sheep sheet, Thursday, 22 February 2007 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

Sheep, who are you when you're at home? This nu-fangled nu-ILX is teh confus0r!

Leee, Friday, 23 February 2007 00:10 (eighteen years ago)

I'm a supreme lurker and was also Sheep Sheet on the old ILC. Barely ever posted. Real name is Sean. Live in San Francisco. Moving from Bernal Heights to the Mission. I guess that seems like a downgrade, maybe?

(But it's way cheaper and I've got a yard now!)

sheep sheet, Tuesday, 27 February 2007 00:50 (eighteen years ago)

i had a nice time at WonderCon today. bought a few comics -- a bunch of back issues of Brian Wood's Local from the Oni Press booth (SO stoked about that) and an issue i was missing of Brian K Vaughan's recent Doctor Strange mini for Marvel. speaking of bkv, saw him all day long. went to the vertigo panel which was nice - it was nice seeing both bkv and Pia Guerra talking about Y together. also went to a panel for the next Pixar film, Ratatouille, with Patton Oswalt as the main character. looks original and super fun. bought some t-shirts, wandered around, ogled cosplayers, decided i'd had enough and went home. i guess i'm saving all my geeking for san diego!

BATTAGS, Sunday, 4 March 2007 06:10 (eighteen years ago)

BATTAGS, I was at that BKV-Vertigo panel! I asked Pia if she knew what the last panel of YTLM was. (Good to hear that Ratatouille seems promising!) Pia regretted that she drew Russian Army Lady, Hero Yorick-Sister, and Astronaut Lady With Kid without more facial differentiation, and BKV then OTMed her, admitting that YTLM is about how all women are exactly the same

Afterwards the Vertigo panel, I followed BKV to his DC booth signing...

...where I continued my streak of embarrassing myself at conventions to two in a row, this time rambling incoherently to the Bald One (because I woke up at 6.30 that day to get "good parking") about my Comic Con 2K6 travails of finding Runaways No. 18 (see: somewhere on this thread. I do remember to ask him when his episode of Lost would air. Of course, his answer flew out both ears at the same time, so I have to ask him at the next panel, and I even got out a pen and paper this time. Losties take note: he'll get his first onscreen credit in about two weeks, and the episode that he cowrote will air sometime in the next two months.

Of other (but not the Others!) TV interesting stuff was the spotlight on Jeff Lobe. He said that in Heroes, characters and story arcs are generally assigned to writers for a time, though they aren't always exclusively responsible for that character/arc 4eva. Lobe himself wrote Niki's plot early on, like the first three episodes, otherwise I would've asked him if the writers would ever think of giving her even more personalities so that they could kill her off in every episode. Lobe did ask me who my favorite Hero was.

[Removed Illegal Image]

A crazy old d00d sat right in the first row muttering to himself the whole time, which actively distracted the panel. Also, a weirdo in the back who kept licking some kind of giant newspaper had to be escorted out of the panel!

Part two, after the jump!

Leee, Monday, 5 March 2007 06:13 (eighteen years ago)

(Stupid ILX2!)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/plechazunga/comics/wc2007/hiro_portrait.jpg

Ok, PART TWO OF THIS THREE MAYBE FOUR PART EPIC.

The DC panel was also h00ts and laffs; I have to give D!D!0 credit, he brings teh fun with his manic anti-matter energies and booze. (Yes, half of the panel were imbibing in spirits, including J!m Leee who stopped by for 10 minutes.) Major LOFFLES when this cute kid asked the panel re: COUNTDOWN if Wally would survive. THE PANEL COULDN'T BRAEK TEH <3 OF A 10-YEAR-OLD KID!!! They hemmed and hawed and threw misinformation at him, but the kid just stood there, saying naught a word, silently demanding that they address his question in no uncertain terms. Finally, they relented and asked him to join the panel onstage! And as an official member of TWO THOUSAND AND SEVEN WONDERCON DEECEE PANEL, he was obliged not to speak a word about Wally West sp0i13rz!!

Here is wunderkind, staying mum!

(Note: though wunderkind had an open bottle of beer in front of him, DC real-life hero M4tt Id13s0n swooped in to chug the booze away from young child.)

In spite of such PHUN, picking up Batman: Y100, DC's Across the Alanmooreverse, and Rogan Gosh, and getting a sketch of Liz Firegirl...

I was not "feeling" the con on Saturday, because of exhaustion -- I nearly fell asleep in most of the panels I sat in on -- and because I could not find thee elusive Cloak & Dagger #8 (Mignola-drawn, though I did get him to autograph my COSMICK ODYSSEUS and miscellaneous Hellboiz) nor the Casanova #6 which I missed. >=(

WHY OH WHY GO TO CONS AT ALL, MANG, IF I CAN'T FIND '80S C-LIST TITLES???

Leee, Monday, 5 March 2007 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

PART THREE?

Because of Sundays, is why! Far fewer people meant that I could walk the aisles with IMPUNITY and gobble up sketches and take pictures of TEENAGE TITANS...

LIVING FOXES...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/plechazunga/comics/wc2007/rrowr-small.jpg

(I think I've photoed these two girls before!), and something INCREDIBLE...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/plechazunga/comics/wc2007/incredibles_SMALL.jpg

I think I stood next to some not-Suicide Girls too, but I was too stupid to take pictures, though we chatted too briefly about BEST SHOW EVAR Top Model.

Highlight of the day: one booth is having a 50% off clearance on TPBs, and I pick up a couple Essentials, Dr. Strangestache and FF vol. 3, rather pimped on these boards as I recall. While I was flipping through the trades selection, who is next to me but DW4YN3 MCDUFFI3!! I proceed to geek out x 1200, tell him how awesomez JLU was, find out he's got more cartoony action coming up (show called Ben 10, check a BET near you) plus he's writing the FF comic now, and he's totally a nice guy! Not at all put off by my fawning dorkitude! And he told me that I'd totally dig the Essential FF even though vol. 4, in his estimation, is something something BEST FF STORIES EVER. Got a couple autographs (incl. my TT season 2 DVD), to boot. Gracious man.

Got Ex/Y sketches, too, and while waiting for them, I saw a guy with a HOTT Niko Asian Goth Grrrl commission from one Michael Ryan, who is doing Runaways w/ Joss. HMMM, I'M A NEED TO GET ME SOME OF THAT ACTION, I thought unsubtly. So once I get my Pia/Harris sketches, I make my way Michael Ryan-ward, and ask him, "R U DIONG RUNWAAYS, OMG?" He affirmed it, and I asked him for a Runaway, and I got a Molly (yay!), which he had to retouch because he had mistakenly drawn come-hither eyes on her! Lol~! As he was sketchin', I flipped through his pages for sale and spotted, "Hey, this looks like Mystique... That's because it IS Mystique. A-a-and that's from the AWESOME Mystique book that BKV wrote!" And I wanted to tell Mr. Ryan that he should add a middle initial to his credits to make him stand out better, but some other not-Suicide Girls were muscling me out, and it was about closing time anyway.

That's kind of an anticlimactic way to end this, but I'll have to put up sketches later.

Leee, Monday, 5 March 2007 06:17 (eighteen years ago)

And another note/real news: while I was waiting for an Image d00d to do a Raven sketch (and conversing w/ him in Mandarin!), I found out that MADMAN FANS! WE HAVE ALLRED NEWS!

In April, Image is going to put out a Madman omnibus, which collects allegedly every Madman thing ever published (all the books, plus the Madman pinup galleries, plus I-don't-know-whats), all for the delightful price of $125.

In June, Image will release BRAND NEW MADMAN, BY THE MIKE "DOC" ALLRED. An Image poobah let slip that

Ryan & BKV on Mystique (for the 3 months they were teamed up) was pretty swank.

That is all I have to add.

Beave, Starfire: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/plechazunga/comics/wc2007/beave-starfire.jpg

BKV, with what he admitted was his worst Ampersand of the weekend:

(I also bored BKV with some stupid story again after he "sketched" this, but we'll leave that for another time, perhaps never.)

Tony Harris, phreaky guy from Ex:

Cute! Deb Huey, Bumperboy:

(I told the artist I'd swing by at the end of the con to pick up a minicomic, but I never did. ;_;)

Justin Norman, Juggy Raven:
