Executive Producer is a fancy television industry word for "staff writer." It means he's high up on the totem pole in terms of writers, but he's not the head writer. Several other cast members are staff writers too -- the girl who plays Kelly, the guy who plays my beloved Toby.

For what it's worth, I think a case can be made for everyone in The Office being a d-bag. The only unjustifiably d-baggy thing Howard did, from what I know, is nearly cut bait on Kelly when news about the Scranton shutdown came out. Any other crap he's done is most likely justified - given the crap he's gotten (esp. from Dwight, King Douche), I'd start douching back, too!

The way he treated Michael? After Michael embarrassed him in front of his teacher & his classmates w/ that godawful (& hilarious) speech w/ the candy bars? And that retardo Q&A? Are you kidding me?
