Yeah, the acronym's generic.

WHAT I SUSPECT I MAY BE GETTING:

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #2 - Written by that guy who did that thing which might've been good, or so I hear.
MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #1 - If you're reading this, you're probably getting this. And you are right.
IMMORTAL IRON FIST #4 - or rather KUNG-FU BILLIONAIRE AND PALS!
THE PUNISHER #46 - Wherein violence is decried as a necessary evil and bad men are put in their place. Presumably.
RUNAWAYS #25 That guy is everywhere, it seems.

You damn right.

Leee, Monday, 2 April 2007 20:16 (eighteen years ago)

52 Week 48--ALL-MONTOYA ACTION some of the time!
SHOWCASE PRESENTS LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES VOL. 1--ohh, you better believe it
IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #7--even my LCS didn't get the last issue

and that's it!

Douglas, Monday, 2 April 2007 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

52.48
Ironic Fist

Not much else. Maybe some drinks.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

I stopped reading Madman when it went to ugly computer lettering. 1994? Nothing for me this week, but if I didn't own the early Legion Archives (and lots of actual issues) and the Showcases were in colour, I'd be all over that.

energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 01:55 (eighteen years ago)

Buffy, 52, Showcase Legion, Supergirl & the Legion, Avengers Initiative (I guess...), Runaways.

Got the new Optic Nerve last week -- keep on the lookout for that folks!

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 04:41 (eighteen years ago)

52 WEEK #48 - 5 issues to go and still no nearer to tying half of it up.
ALL NEW ATOM #10 - This is still kind of fun. HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE A GIANT DISEMBODIED FLOATING HEAD?
DETECTIVE COMICS #831 - Return of Dini.
JACK OF FABLES #9 - This is not as clever as it thinks it is.
JONAH HEX #18 - Am I the only one buying this? It seems to be pretty similar every month, but it's pretty damn good most of the time.
MIDNIGHTER #6 - I could have sworn this is wrong and it shipped a couple of weeks ago. Or has this turned ongoing?
SHOWCASE PRESENTS LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES (plus I should have the Hakwman volume my LCS sold while I was on holiday)
GHOST RIDER TRAIL OF TEARS #3 - This is kind of a nothing book, but it's very pretty
INCREDIBLE HULK #105 - Planet Hulk concludes. I BET HE'S HEADING BACK TO EARTH. Call it a hunch.
IRON MAN HYPERVELOCITY #4 - A pretty good mini, even if it is just familiar Iron Man tropes.
IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #7 - Why fight super-villains when you can watch attractive ladies take their clothes off in the privacy of their own homes? COULDN'T HAVE WRITTEN BETTER COPY MYSELF.
PUNISHER #46 - This Mob Wives arc has been some of the best Punisher writing in years. Enjoying it far more than I should.

x-post
Thanks for the Optic Nerve mention - I check D&Q's site only periodically.

scampering alpaca, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

No problem. I found out it came out in a similar way -- my regular store didn't have it, but Forbidden Planet did.

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

Jack of Fables
Runaways
Optic Nerve
and the last few weeks of stuff

Jordan, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

Gakk. Big week. I haven't paid my rent yet either.

52 WEEK #48 - It was probably on Douglas's blog where someone suggested that the cover to this issue might indicate the return of Anarky, which would be kinda cool. MAYBE.
ALL NEW ATOM #10 - Pretty fun.
DETECTIVE COMICS #831 - I'm not entirely convinced I should be buying this.
MIDNIGHTER #6 - I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be buying this. I kinda was only in it for the time-travel/kill-Hitler/Sprouse thing. I don't really know/care about Midnighter. Plus, my LCS thought that since I was buying this, I'd want the Midnighter/Grifter thing.
SHOWCASE PRESENTS LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES VOL 1 TP - There's gonna be some Otto Binder stuff in here, no?
SUPERMAN #661 - Is this another fill-in issue?
WELCOME TO TRANQUILITY #5 - Again, I kinda thought this was gonna be a mini-series when I started buying it.
MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #1 - NEVER READ ANY MADMAN, but really liked Allred's SOLO (which I like to pretend never got cancelled, and I think it actually gave me an increased appetite for "indie"/"good" comics).
IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #7 - MORE SHRINKO FUN.
MARVEL ZOMBIES ARMY OF DARKNESS #2 (OF 5) - Nowhere near as awful as I thought it would be and actually kinda great (though nowhere near the original).
OMEGA FLIGHT #1 CWI (OF 5) - True patriot love.

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

52, All New Atom, Annihilation Heralds of Galactus Silver Surfer Firelord, Avengers Initiative, and Irredeemable Ant-Man. And I'm sure I'll be buying that Legion Showcase book someday. I might also pick up Madman, as I enjoyed the issues I borrowed from my old roommate years ago, but I was hoping to make it through the Gargantua first and that thing doesn't even exist yet.

Garrett Martin, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

Thanks for the OPTIC NERVE heads-up, Matthew!

R Baez, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

Just don't get your hopes up too high for it, Richard. It doesn't suck, but there's a good chance you'll share my reaction: "Uh, that was okay, but um, really, you spent four years on THAT?" I know Tomine is doing other things, but it definitely seems like he's willfully painting himself into a corner. There's a sense of arrested development, and not the find kind with Buster and GOB...

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

Err, "fun kind."

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 3 April 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

I think I know what your getting at - for all Tomine's extraordinary talent, he'll be producing yet another variation on inarticulate alienation (or something to that effect). I'm still getting it though...

I know Tomine is doing other things

Namely, editing the Yoshihiro Tatsumi collections (THE PUSH MAN, ABANDON THE OLD IN TOKYO (a title I with I'd thought up)) which have been quite wonderful, Matthew. If you haven't, I recommend taking a look into them.

SHOWCASE PRESENTS LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES VOL 1 TP

M.V., Wednesday, 4 April 2007 00:00 (eighteen years ago)

ARGH! I forgot to grab Madman! And I got Avengers: The Initiative (named after my 2nd favourite tM3 song) instead of Omega Flight, because I don't want to make Dan Slott cry.

Dr. Superman, Thursday, 5 April 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)

Avengiative was pretty alright. I think I shall buy future issues. I remain SHOCKED though that a character called Thor Girl actually exists, and WASN'T just made up for this series.

And either Madman sold out at my store, or else they didn't get any, or else they decided to put a logo with a word completely different than "Madman" on the cover.

Garrett Martin, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I stared at the new release wall for a good three minutes (which is a long time on a wed) and no Madman jumped out at me. Maybe it just wasn't at EYE LEVEL like that Houdini biz was.

What I kinda liked about AI was that Slott pretended like he was doing one thing (that one thing he's kinda known for) and then did another thing. A really nice hook for a first issue. And the art was good. If that's becoming the new standardsuperheroartstyle, THEN GOOD.

Dr. Superman, Thursday, 5 April 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

OH MAN, JLA IS THE SHIT! INSTEAD OF FIGHTING PEOPLE AND ACTING LIKE GODS AND FUCKING SHIT UP FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PLANET, THEY SIT FOR A PICTURE. AND ARSENAL BECOMES RED ARROW! IT'S LIKE THE MOVING DAY ISSUE OF JLI EXCEPT FUCKING GARBAGE.

Dr. Superman, Sunday, 8 April 2007 04:24 (eighteen years ago)

also, Black Canary gets to be charwoman? WTF MELTZDICKENS?

Dr. Superman, Sunday, 8 April 2007 06:07 (eighteen years ago)

Sexist.

David R., Monday, 9 April 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

No really! He responds (perhaps) to ILC criticism that he totally shafted BC (so long Johnny) in Identity Crisis by making her chairwoman, yet, I don't think she even fucking speaks in the whole issue, THUS CONFIRMING MELTZER (Brad, not Richard) is a fucking goof.

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 00:47 (eighteen years ago)

RM's kind of a fucking goof, too, tho.

David R., Tuesday, 10 April 2007 01:00 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, but he cops to it.

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 10 April 2007 01:02 (eighteen years ago)

BRAD YOU COMPLETE ME
