& I'm not talking about ironofun, or grim & gritty fun. I am talking about actual no-foolin' F U N!

just go reread Slott's Thing series if you want some fun.

FWIW, I just started this thread to see what sort of consensus was out there in ILC. I'm reading all of those titles Aldo listed (& was gonna list them myself). & I'm not desperate for FUN, tho I could use MORE FUN.

The Spider-Man / FF mini that just started could and SHOULD be fun, but the first issue was just kinda slightly boring. Okay, it was definitely fun, but not nearly as fun as it could've been.

Also: Marvel Adventures Avengers is like getting hit in the face with a shotgun full of fun. sorry, FUN.

Wha bout the other MA titles? They shd be up my FUN alley, but I think I'm too loyal to the "real" Marvel brand to want some watered down "kid stuff," which is "stupid" and makes me feel "like a jerk."

The latest Spirit and B&TB were awesome fun-ness. Brave and the Bold is like a weird sci-fi episode of Magnum.

I flipped through the MA Spidey books I bought my nephew last summer, and they seemed pretty damn fun. Avengers is the only one I've read; I picked up that MODOK issue and haven't been able to stop.

Oh, and brief glimpses of fun still occasionally poke through the court-mandated tie-in crappiness of the last few months' worth of SHE-HULKs.

Since writing that 2000AD piece I am keen on reading some AMORAL VIOLENT ROBOT FUN? Can the big two provide?

Groke, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:13 (eighteen years ago)

the occasional MA Spidey I've picked up has been fun (the Fing Fang Foom issue, esp.), though I haven't read any of Van Lente MA stuff.

Blue Beetle, yes, is fun.
GLC is mostly fun.
The "It Came From the Quarter Bin" on N'rama this week on Oberon spotlight JLI issue (which I didn't read--I mean, I read the JLI issue way back, but I didn't read the N'rama thing) made me think that now that Barda's in BoP, maybe Oberon will join too, and Gail Simone would write a really fun Oberon, but, um, I guess that won't happen, or if it does, it won't for very long.

No longer all that fun:
Busiek's Superman - As KB rushes to fill in on DonnerJohns Action, Superman has been all kinda pfft, okay, but not what it used to be. WHERE'S MY KRYPTO SPOTLIGHT??? (the Johnny DC Krypto book was FUN)

Brave and the Bold is FUN. All-Star Superman is great fun. The latest She-Hulk had a few great fun moments. What else?

JN$OT, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:23 (eighteen years ago)

the "indian matrimonial" website advertised on CBR is fun!

Dr. Superman, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

and I'm really, really enjoying Robin in a fun is fun way.

Dr. Superman, Friday, 20 April 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

CBR sez Beechen is leaving Robin. SUCKS. Don't know if I care to reinvest myself in the whole (lame) cast of Teen Titans.

Dr. Superman, Monday, 30 April 2007 18:31 (eighteen years ago)

Agreed on BRAVE & THE BOLD, which is a total hoot. Also ALL-STAR SUPERMAN.

And I keep buying Marvel Adventures: Avengers when people tip me off to the story premises. This issue: "Ego, the Loving Planet." Not a typo. He's a Barry White-style player trying to pick up the Earth.

Jeff Parker is single-handedly saving Marvel from itself.
