ALL OF TEH ABVOE1!

Oilyrags, Monday, 23 April 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

My heart says 2000AD and always will.

My cerebellum says the lesbian Palestinians (HI GOOGLERS)

My favourite comic is probably 52, even when it suXoR.

I think Marvel has a load of brash energy and is pressing the brazen GOTTA READ THIS button best right now.

So, Oilyrags OTM.

Groke, Monday, 23 April 2007 15:57 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for Marvel. I think I have a bit more fun with DC lately, but my first loyalty is the X-Men. With the possible exception of the Legion of Super Heroes, I'll never have the sort of sentimental bond that I have for Marvel in general -- though I read DC stuff as a kid, I never really bonded with that universe.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

Always Marvel!

for helping me through/perpetuating an awkward adolescence, DC

Dr. Superman, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

If I was one of ILX's famous "kids", I imagine Marvel would win hands down at the moment: much better art, more smart-arsey writers, more creative violence, less continuity wankery -- all good things as far as comics are concerned. DC's work is absolutely appalling right now: I can't think of a single good artist working for them right now, except maybe Darwyn Cooke (required taste), George Perez (too retro) and Pete Woods (who never gets anything interesting to draw on a regular basis).

That said, the only Marvel comic I actually enjoy is Daredevil (and Criminal, if that counts), and DC have Grant Morrison, so DC wins by default.

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 23 April 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

Required taste?

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 23 April 2007 18:34 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, Terry and Rachel Dodson are quite good, Chuck! And obvs, Frank Quitely.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 23 April 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

I only read black and white comics about lesbians and Palestinians

Actually, over the past few weeks, yeah. I've already forgotten how to smile.

R Baez, Monday, 23 April 2007 20:08 (eighteen years ago)

Er, yeah, Quitely is pretty good. Is Dodson on anything at the moment, though?

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 23 April 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

Just Wonder Woman covers and the special which concludes Heinberg's storyline, whenever that is to be released.

R Baez, Monday, 23 April 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

I would like Dodson more if he didn't come off as Adam Hughes Light & managed to make his women look less like each other.

David R., Monday, 23 April 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

I am also going through TITTY OVERLOAD, which I never thought possible, but, yeah, I'm kinda sick of 'em.

David R., Monday, 23 April 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

The Dodsons are doing half of Jodi Picoult's storyline too.

I like the Dodson's stuff because there's a certain lightness to it, it seems very pop to me in the way it just glides from panel to panel and page to page. Very fun, very pretty. The T&A/Adam Hughes Lite stuff is what they are known for, but the actual craft is quite good and they do a good job drawing other things.

For Reference's Sake

Daniel_Rf, Tuesday, 24 April 2007 02:25 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE, Wednesday, 25 April 2007 23:45 (eighteen years ago)

I'll admit he wasn't a thousand miles from my mind when I wrote that in, Dan.

I've just realised I should've made this a true ILC poll and set the closing date at December 2009.

chap, Thursday, 26 April 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

Obviously I voted for the option tailor-made for me. Thanks!

Tuomas, Thursday, 26 April 2007 10:34 (eighteen years ago)

Smiley face.

chap, Thursday, 26 April 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

I voted DC, only because cheap local editions of the Giffen / DeMatteis Justice League was what started me reading comics. Also because with time I learned that for large part of their history, Marvel was considered the cool and edgy option and DC the more traditionalist one and I am always one to stuck up for the underdog. Even though DC is no underdog...but you know what I mean, no?.

Amadeo, Thursday, 26 April 2007 14:27 (eighteen years ago)

Damnit, I always get that acquired/required thing wrong

Chuck_Tatum, Thursday, 26 April 2007 14:57 (eighteen years ago)

Results!

chap, Monday, 30 April 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

is this an accurate census of current active ILCitizens?

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 00:00 (eighteen years ago)

Nope. In the grand tradition of my beloved nation, I did not vote.

Leee, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 01:23 (eighteen years ago)

OH NOES!

Daniel_Rf, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

Are we on the road to a zombified ILC that is going to try to EAT ILX!?

Amadeo, Tuesday, 1 May 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)

Why do you think I started the poll in the first place? I think we should try and eat I Love Books first.
