It's up here.

A light week for me:
Y THE LAST MAN VOL. 9 MOTHERLAND TP--I find it reads better in the trades
NEW AVENGERS #30--yay Bendis!

...Oh fine. And probably COUNTDOWN.

Plus I already got CRIMINAL as individual issues, but I do endorse the trade if you haven't read 'em yet.

Douglas, Monday, 7 May 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Y The Last Man: Motherland, Countdown, JLA Milligan, New Avengers, Thunderbolts.

Light week, but I'm super psyched for Y The Last Man.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 7 May 2007 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

I WILL EASE YOUR MIND:

COUNTDOWN #51 -- DO NOT SUCK
DMZ #19 (MR)
GEN 13 #8
JACK OF FABLES #10 (MR)
STORMWATCH PHD #7 -- Mahnke lips RIP ;_; (note: I've probably mentioned this 20 times already)
Y THE LAST MAN #56 (RES) (MR)

BATTLE POPE #14 (MR) (NOTE PRICE) -- note that I will also probably drop this now, because the roffles to be had w/ baudy dick / chick jokes involving an invulnerable Sgt. Fury in papal garb are diminishing
INVINCIBLE #41

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #540 -- END IT ALREADY STRAZ
IMMORTAL IRON FIST #5 -- Travel Foreman: needs his own book (& possibly a lot of leadtime) RIGHT NOW
MARVEL ZOMBIES DEAD DAYS -- yayayayayayayayayay
NEW AVENGERS #30 CWI
NOVA #2 CWI -- first issue: not bad @ all! I await the precipitous decline!
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #7 CWI
THUNDERBOLTS #114 CWI

David R., Monday, 7 May 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

IMMORTAL IRON FIST #5: I suspect this will prove worthy of my three dollars.
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #7: This also.

R Baez, Monday, 7 May 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

Milligan's JLA:C strikes me as bad Milligan.

Leee, Monday, 7 May 2007 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

Countdown, Ironic Fist

Oilyrags, Monday, 7 May 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

NEW AVENGERS #30
2000 AD #1533
2000 AD #1534

M.V., Monday, 7 May 2007 20:19 (eighteen years ago)

countdown, GLC, Tales of the Unexpected, PunWarJou

Dr. Superman, Monday, 7 May 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

I'm exceptionally patient and forgiving when it comes to Peter Milligan.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 7 May 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

almost nothing for me: Countdown, JLA Classified, and Nova.

Garrett Martin, Monday, 7 May 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

Countdown and that's it. Although I might read it in the store.

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 7 May 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

COUNTDOWN #51 - I AM A SUCKER
GEN 13 #8 - Hey, there were dinosaurs in the last one. How bad can it be?
GRIFTER MIDNIGHTER #3 - Despite what you might think, this is possibly as good as any Authority book in a long time.
JACK OF FABLES #10 - Is this part two of the Snow Queen story from months ago?
JLA CLASSIFIED #38 - Meh
MYSTERY IN SPACE #8 - WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT CARES ABOUT CAPTAIN COMET vs THE WEIRD?
STORMWATCH PHD #7 - Hmm
Y THE LAST MAN #56 - AND THEN THEY LEZ UP
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #7 - This week's obligatory FUN book
THUNDERBOLTS #114 - emo brooding

aldo, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 09:39 (eighteen years ago)

Jack of Fables
Y (how many issues left?)

Jordan, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

Five (including #56).

David R., Tuesday, 8 May 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

Is it me, or is Powers quite good at the moment?

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)

Hahahaha I like that Gen13 is being true to its original concept/run to the point where its readers say things like, "Well, how bad can the next one be?"

HI DERE, Wednesday, 9 May 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

The art on the first 6 issues was awful; every other page, I was all UGH THORAX! I hope getting rid of the Michael Turner clone will improve things.

David R., Wednesday, 9 May 2007 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

Yay, Phonogram! Is there a thread already for it, I dimly recall that you all dimly hate it.

Andrew Farrell, Friday, 11 May 2007 12:55 (eighteen years ago)

"Dimly" would be an understatement!

Mr. Perpetua, Friday, 11 May 2007 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

The second 'dimly' is doing different work from the first there :)

I am officially nominating IMMORTAL IRON FIST as the Coolest Book To Come Out This Week From Marvel (cf. "Brooklyn headbutt").

David R., Friday, 11 May 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

Is that any good? Found the first issue a bit confusing and then couldn't be bothered to follow up. I generally like teh Bru, though.

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 11 May 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

I am officially nominating IMMORTAL IRON FIST as the Coolest Book To Come Out This Week From Marvel (cf. "Brooklyn headbutt").

I nominate PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL in this category, wherein Frank Castle kills a bull with a two by four.

And yes, Chuck, 's quite good, worth getting the trade for - issue 4 features a gun-toting adventurer crashing a steam-powered airship into the heavenly city of K'un L'un.

R Baez, Friday, 11 May 2007 20:12 (eighteen years ago)

I might 2nd your nomination, as I've yet to read PWJ.

But I guess this means MATT FRACTION has the Coolest Writer Award in his back pocket. For him to poop on.

David R., Friday, 11 May 2007 20:17 (eighteen years ago)

There's an very amusing bit of repartee between Stuart and Frank ("...I guess you're more of a "think globally, act locally" kind of guy...") that left me chuckling for about fifteen minutes after I read it.

R Baez, Friday, 11 May 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

Just cottoned on to Iron Fist and it's a lot of fun. It amazes me how Brubaker can so perfectly nail this and Cap and be so hit-and-miss on Daredevil, and so absolutely inane and pointless on Uncanny X-Men, all at the same time. I'd say the problem is that he can't do team books, but the problems with his X-Men arc seem to have little to do with teams....

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 12 May 2007 03:40 (eighteen years ago)

Oh. Wait. It's not by Brubaker. Why do I keep doing that?

Doctor Casino, Saturday, 12 May 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

WHAT ME WORDY?

COUNTDOWN #51 - initially, enjoyed, but then read DW's thing, and realized I was merely sorta reading it as, y'know, I AM READING EVERY DCU CRAP BUCKET BOOK, and reading it as I AM COUNTDOWN, and who cares, and where is Jimmy Olsen?
GREEN ARROW #74 - a diff. kind of night olympics, but just as boring as the other one
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #12 - cover made me think that Gleason was gonna get inked by D. Nguyen (he what makes Mahnke-lips so lippy), but it's T. Nguyen drawing pages what Gleason won't, all the same, despite kreeping Sinestro Corps SHITTINESS, a fine and excellent comic book.
JLA CLASSIFIED #38 - a lot better than the last one, more Wally West pro-death penalty jazz (which is the shittiest thing about the Infinite Shuffle--Wally had just come out as pro-KILLING and then he gets DISAPPEARED by Dan Didiochet) and robots smashing
OUTSIDERS #47 - it amazes me that a book that has never figured out what it's actually about is going to make it to 50
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #8 (OF 8) - OH HO. I actually didn't even bother reading past the second page of the Spectre story. Dr. 13 earns the cover price anyway with AWESOMEBESTCONCLUSIONTOANYDCSTORYINYEARS
MARVEL ZOMBIES DEAD DAYS - unnecessary fun
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #7 CWI - everything about this book is awesome

Dr. Superman, Monday, 14 May 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

Dr. C - Iron Fist is by Brubaker & Fraction (who, based on the growing luv for PWJ, seems to be turning into ILC's nu-Slott).

David R., Monday, 14 May 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)

Also, LOLZ on me - just as I was threatening to drop BATTLE POPE, I find out in this month's issue that it's the last issue!

David R., Monday, 14 May 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)

Also, going back to the Fraction luv, PLEASE TO NOTE that the first issue of his super smash hit series-to-be THE CHAMPIONS will be hitting stands soonish.
