Bunch (20?) of screwed-with Spider-Man strips, ranging from the brilliant to the dumb to the stupid.

(Hit refresh to see a new one.)

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 25 June 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Fappo!

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Friday, 25 June 2004 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Dang, I thought this thread would be about the awesomeness of Green Lantern Corps #202, where they fought a guy who was a truck, I think his name was Truk. He was eventually revealed to be an interdimensional chipmunk who had survived the Crisis on Infinite Earths but his identity had not. He also posed as a woman who had the power to, um, erase stuff called White Out.
Those were the day.

(i almost added an S to "day" but reconsidered)

Huk-L, Friday, 25 June 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Quality varies wildly. But spider-detournment is always funny.

Vic Fluro, Friday, 25 June 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

"So it's true! Mysterio is gay for sex... with ME?!"
"Who can withstand his cock-fucking?!"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

"Egad! A bullet came out of his gun somehow! How did he know my one weakness?"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:11 (twenty-one years ago)

KRAKK! KRAKK!

I'm not sure these strips necessarily needed to be redubbed. And what's with all the Mysterio gaybashing? The guy's dead! Let him rest!

Also, I thought this thread would be about U.S. 1.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

This looks like a job for sugar!

Vic Fluro, Friday, 25 June 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

"Ngh! So ANGRY! Must... crush... newspaper!"

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

This one is absolutely brilliant:

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

OH MY GOD

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

that one kills me because

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Friday, 25 June 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

(oh no Huck is dead!)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

What I love about them -- even the dumb ones, in this context -- is that the, um, characterizations are consistent. I mean, Fappo Spidey is Fappo Spidey all the way through (although the Hitler one doesn't fit in as well).

(Half-Spiderman Half-Asian makes me crack up every single time, for some reason.)

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

(As does "I intend to pay you ... in RAPE DOLLARS!")

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of truck (driving): RAZORBACK

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

This has irrevocably brightened my day.

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Friday, 25 June 2004 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

What does driving a truck have to do with wearing a boar's head?

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Friday, 25 June 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

What doesn't it?!

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 25 June 2004 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

hahahahahahahaha FAPPO!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 June 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

If there was an ILC FAP, it would have to be called a FAPPO.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 25 June 2004 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Huk, he doesn't just drive trucks - he drives EVERYTHING! Why, John Byrne even put that boy behind the yoke of a space shuttle! Roger that.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 25 June 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Most mutant abilities I can get behind, but I don't see how GENES can help you drive. Unless your Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

you're, dumbass.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

He's Cypher's cousin!

(I love how his enemies are Man-Beast, Xemnu the Titan, and the Human Torch. He's probably sitting at home going, "Damn, I hope Xemnu doesn't get out of ... um ... Xemnalcatraz, and come get me." And then later, he's like at Stuckey's, and the Torch is there getting a pecan log, so he's all hiding behind the spinner rack of Saf-T-Pops, going, Sweet mother of pearl! It's the Human Torch! Can't let him see me! He's my mortal enemy! and meanwhile the Torch is just all into the pecan log, and later someone asks him, "Remember Razorback?" and he's like, "... no.")

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

there were some great moments like that in the mid-period of the Giffen Justice League, where Black Hand bumped into Guy Gardner and, um, I think Guy was out on a date with Ice at a porno movie, Taxi Driver-style (I believe the title was Three Men and a Babe), and, um, I haven't even looked at this comic in 12 years, and suddenly I'm about to recall every panel.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

That is a very, very Giffen thing, and I think I kind of remember the one you're talking about.

Huck, Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

It's so wrong that I can't read "a pint of hot ladyfoam" without thinking of Dan.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that's so right.

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Thursday, 2 September 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyone Fancy A Pint?

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Thursday, 2 September 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

haha - "good to be back in japan again"

cinniblount (James Blount), Saturday, 4 September 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I just about lost my cool over this one.
