Sorry, that first link will always be wrong. This one will someday be right.

Oilyrags, Monday, 2 July 2007 17:06 (seventeen years ago)

Like, right now, for instance! WHEEEEEEEEE!

ALL STAR SUPERMAN!!!

Oilyrags, Monday, 2 July 2007 17:09 (seventeen years ago)

And yeah, wow, maybe that's it.

Oilyrags, Monday, 2 July 2007 17:10 (seventeen years ago)

For me:

ACTION COMICS 3D VAR #851 --never give a sucker an even break, etc.
ALL STAR SUPERMAN #8--I love this series so much
ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #2--after the FCBD thing I'm curious to see what's next
ESSENTIAL DEFENDERS VOL. 3 TP--Steve Gerber at his best, some of the most blazingly insane comics ever published--those of you who love totally weird superhero comics NEED this
IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN #10--the World War Hulk tie-in, promises to be awesome
JUDGE DREDD COMPLETE CASE FILES VOL. 8--reprinting ca. 1984 stories, really great stuff I haven't seen in ages
FOLLOWING CEREBUS #10--more fun with Dave!

Douglas, Monday, 2 July 2007 17:52 (seventeen years ago)

ALL STAR SUPERMAN #8
Y THE LAST MAN #57 -- Only four more!

Plus last week's comics.

Leee, Monday, 2 July 2007 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

Douglas OTM abt Essential Defenders Vol 3

Ward Fowler, Monday, 2 July 2007 18:59 (seventeen years ago)

Atom, All Star Superman, Ant-Man, Thor, Uncanny X-Men.

And yes, Essential Defenders Vol. 3 will be awesome. I bought all of Gerber's run in single issues last year, and it was well worth it. The Headmen / Nebulon saga is about as good as anything in GM's Doom Patrol.

Garrett Martin, Monday, 2 July 2007 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

THOR #1

noooooooooooooooooooooooo (I'm not buying it, but I am buying...)

you mean
naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy

M.V., Monday, 2 July 2007 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

you mean
naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy

heh

OTHERWISE:
ALL STAR SUPERMAN #8: Featuring the only sane man on his world.
PUNISHER #49: Featuring the only sane man on his world.
RUNAWAYS #27: Due to SKRULL-itude, soon to be the centerpiece of a bloated corporate event!

R Baez, Monday, 2 July 2007 20:04 (seventeen years ago)

For me: All Star Superman, Uncanny X-Men, Runaways, and maybe Essential Defenders because I trust Douglas.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 2 July 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago)

ASS
Y

And the last, oh, four weeks of stuff.

Jordan, Monday, 2 July 2007 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

ASSY Runaways indeed.

Leee, Monday, 2 July 2007 21:51 (seventeen years ago)

ALL STAR SUPERMAN #8 (Bizarro Morrison Reinvention!)

RUNAWAYS #27 (Irredeemable failure to resurrect Gertie?)
RUNAWAYS #27 (Inexplicable?)
UNCANNY X-MEN #488 (Irredeemable Endangered Species.)

7 DC, 7 Marvel. Even on a really good DC week, an Irredeemable Marvel still ties.

Mordechai Shinefield, Monday, 2 July 2007 23:59 (seventeen years ago)

Blah. That second Runaways was supposed to be Thor #1.

Mordechai Shinefield, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 00:00 (seventeen years ago)

I was going to say, a second copy of Runaways was a bit inexplicable.

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 00:27 (seventeen years ago)

ASS
FOLLOWING CEREBUS

a big week!

energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 09:37 (seventeen years ago)

so if i get only one of the gerber essential defender tpb's, should i get volume 2 or volume 3???

dave k, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 13:13 (seventeen years ago)

volume two's good, but volume three should have the best of his stuff. David Anthony Kraft's first several issues were really good, too, and I think they're in three, as well.

Garrett Martin, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 14:02 (seventeen years ago)

USLCSes are going to be open tomorrow? And books are going to ship?? How great is our country man! USA USA!

Leee, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 16:03 (seventeen years ago)

Austin Books and Comics will be open (very briefly) but is not expecting new product until Thursday.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 16:04 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe All Star Supes can make me get outta bed where Showcase Bats didn't.

Hay you guise, have you heard of Wednesday's List?

http://www.download.com/Wednesday-s-List/3000-2301_4-10654941.html?tag=lst-0-4

In short, Wednesdays List is a powerful application designed to help comic book collectors view, manage, print, and save custom new and upcoming comic book release pull lists. To be more specific, Wednesdays List downloads the current weeks shipping list (as well as those expected to ship the following week) from RAILhead Designs server, and once downloaded, it allows you to browse through all the available titles.

It's a powerful application, maaaan!

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 5 July 2007 12:17 (seventeen years ago)

Okay so are all the X-Books going to be $3.99 while this Endangered Species thing is going down? Cos that's lame.

Mr. Perpetua, Thursday, 5 July 2007 17:37 (seventeen years ago)

<i>are all the X-Books going to be $3.99 while this Endangered Species thing is going down</i>

they're the canary in the mineshaft. if those books maintain their sales, everything will be four bucks within a year.

Garrett Martin, Thursday, 5 July 2007 18:10 (seventeen years ago)

I just checked, & MidtownComics.com is selling the new Uncanny for $2.99.

David R., Thursday, 5 July 2007 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

So maybe ILC needs an adjunct thread for purchases prompted by mentions in this thread. Like Faker #1, which I bought today.

M.V., Thursday, 5 July 2007 21:31 (seventeen years ago)

Ha, but David I bought my copy at Midtown Comics this afternoon and the cover price is $3.99 and um there was no special discount.

Mr. Perpetua, Thursday, 5 July 2007 23:30 (seventeen years ago)

She-Hulk was rilly good!

Also, I bought vols. 5 & 6 of Buddha for $10. Total.

Leee, Friday, 6 July 2007 01:11 (seventeen years ago)

Superb ASS.

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 6 July 2007 04:30 (seventeen years ago)

zomg, Simone Bianchi has finally done a kick-ass Batman/Detective cover!

Dr. Superman, Friday, 6 July 2007 04:44 (seventeen years ago)

also, lcs put Sinestro Special in my file and I didn't notice it until I got home. BOO!

Dr. Superman, Friday, 6 July 2007 04:45 (seventeen years ago)

Superb ASS.

Oui oui. The Bizarro anthem actually has the same melody as the Star Spangled Banner. (Yes, I'm geeky enough to actually sing it aloud. Shut up.)

R Baez, Friday, 6 July 2007 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

I did it! I did it! I didn't buy Countdown!

Oilyrags, Saturday, 7 July 2007 01:21 (seventeen years ago)

ONE OF US. ONE OF US.

Dr. Superman, Saturday, 7 July 2007 07:07 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway, if not for their sparse schedules, I could probably be satisfied entirely (comics-wise) by ASS, B&B and PunWarJou.

Dr. Superman, Saturday, 7 July 2007 07:08 (seventeen years ago)

If you are reading PWJ, Hukl, then you might want to check out either Iron Fist (co-typed by Bru!) & Casanova - I know a TPB of the latter is due pretty soon, and I'm sure IF will get collected soonish as well.

David R., Sunday, 8 July 2007 02:24 (seventeen years ago)

Report:

ASSSUPES: This issue seems to be getting a very mixed reaction, but I am very far in the pro- camp--love it love it love it. Superman confronting his other self = theme of this series, and SO much fun...

IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN: I am convinced that what killed this series is the five-syllable word in its title. The clerk at my LCS still thinks it's "irrepressible." Anyway: this is the first Marvel comic I've seen that features its product placement on EVERY SINGLE PAGE (there were like three I couldn't find it on, but still). For those of you not reading it: this issue is basically World War Hulk #1 as seen from inside the Hulk's digestive tract.

FOLLOWING CEREBUS--contains what I suspect is the longest comics piece Dave's published since the end of Cerebus proper: a three-page response to Roberta Gregory's piece a few issues ago, drawn in the style of Mort Drucker's movie parodies from MAD and guest-starring Harvey Pekar. Also: a long-out-of-print Barry Windsor-Smith story that's the only official Cerebus story not written by Dave, and the first 2-D appearance of "Cerebus Dreams II" (the story from the "A-V in 3-D" special set between Cerebus #66 and 67). So what I'm saying is: inside baseball, but if you've read Cerebus it's fascinating as usual.

Douglas, Sunday, 8 July 2007 03:56 (seventeen years ago)

this issue is basically World War Hulk #1 as seen from inside the Hulk's digestive tract.

Gosh - that really sells it for me.

R Baez, Monday, 9 July 2007 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

the Old Spice ads were so obvious and overwhelming that I almost feel like they have to be a joke. I mean, I know they aren't, but geez.

Garrett Martin, Monday, 9 July 2007 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

ASSUPES -- mixed reaction? From whom?

(Removes pince-nez)

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 9 July 2007 21:22 (seventeen years ago)

I dunno, I loved it, but it there was not much PUNCHING in it, so maybe...
also note that both recent ALL STAR edition intro'd JLA references to the All Star Universe (though I hope it's not a shared universe--nobody's ever said it was, have they?).

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 00:47 (seventeen years ago)

I think I read a GM interview where he said that all the AS books are in their own individual universes, except he managed to work in something about 3D time in his analogy.

Leee, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 03:06 (seventeen years ago)

I shudder to think of the writer that would willfully do work in Frank Miller's All-Star Universe.

David R., Tuesday, 10 July 2007 13:43 (seventeen years ago)

um, Frank Miller?

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

And, y'know, Palmiotti and Gray are totally gonna be the next writers on ASSBATS.

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN was actually irredeemable! I mean, WTF is the Hulk swallowing Old Spide products for? This is one of those "Kirkman Explains It All" issues, where dudes sit around and talk about stuff in a very very clear and explicit Q&A manner. Well, maybe I'm confusing IAM with ASTONISHING WOLF-MAN which was 95% like that, but it was 100x more enjoyable, and with a twist-not-twist!

David R., Wednesday, 11 July 2007 14:03 (seventeen years ago)

Also: ME AM NOT BEFUDDLED BY BIZARRO SPEAK, AND HEAD DOES NOT HURT WHEN NOT READING
